We're looking for Trustees who will bring fresh perspectives, professional expertise, and a shared commitment to good governance and community leadership. You'll join a committed Board at a pivotal time, helping to shape the strategic direction of an organisation with real ambition for its community.
We're particularly keen to hear from candidates with skills or experience in: Legal, Finance/Accounting, Public Health and Marketing and Strategic Communication. However, we welcome enquiries from anyone who shares our values and can contribute to Active Communities.
No prior Board experience is necessary, what matters most is your enthusiasm for our mission and the perspective you can bring.
About Us
Active Communities delivers health and wellbeing activities in underserved communities across Renfrewshire. Our community hub, Station Seven, sits at the heart of what we do - bringing people together, building partnerships and supporting healthier, more connected lives.
Over recent years we've grown steadily: establishing Station Seven as a thriving community hub, expanding our programmes to include Gallowhill, and building strong relationships with communities, partners and funders. We're fortunate to have a committed Board, an experienced staff team, and more than 56 volunteers who give their time and energy to improving the lives of others.
In Scotland two people die by suicide every day. That’s two too many. At SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health) we support the national ambition of the Scottish Government and COSLA that any child, young person or adult who has thoughts of taking their own life, or is affected by suicide, should be able to get the help they need and feel a sense of hope.
Around since 1923, we are Scotland’s national mental health charity. We are a committed member of the Suicide Prevention Scotland delivery collective, ensuring that lived and living experience is at the forefront of delivering Scotland’s national suicide prevention strategy, Creating Hope Together.
For Scotland’s Mental Health
About the Role
The Lived and Living Experience Panel (LLEP) is a group of people from across Scotland who have lived experience of suicide. Some are people who have been bereaved by suicide. Others are people who have been suicidal in the past, or have been or are currently carers for family members or friends living with suicidal thoughts and behaviours.
The purpose of the LLEP is to ensure that the voice of people with experience of suicide is at the heart of the Creating Hope Together strategy. The panel plays a central role in co-producing Suicide Prevention Scotland’s programme of work.
SAMH hosts the LLEP on behalf of Suicide Prevention Scotland. The work of the panel is supported by the Lived and Living Experience Panel Coordinator and this role, the Safeguarding Officer.
In this role you will manage safeguarding processes and activities that support people with lived experience to be directly involved and influence positive change in suicide prevention work. You will provide safeguarding guidance and support to LLEP members, and build and maintain relationships across the Suicide Prevention Scotland delivery collective.
What we are looking for:
To be successful in this post you will need a significant level of experience in safeguarding, alongside either a qualification in a related area, or experience of supporting people with lived or living experience.
You will have experience of supporting people in crisis, and providing emotional support, guidance and advice. You will also have solid interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with a wide range of people.
What we will provide for you
You will work in a supportive environment and will be provided with a full induction and training opportunities. You will be given the chance to develop your knowledge and skills, as well as develop professionally. Some of our benefits include;

We are looking for a new Change Programmes Lead to join the FST Team!
Scotland’s performing arts sector is full of talented people, ambitious organisations and inspiring ideas. It also faces significant opportunities and challenges that no single organisation can address alone. Increasingly, progress depends on bringing people together, building partnerships and turning shared ambitions into practical action.
That’s why this role matters.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys combining strategic thinking, partnership-building and practical delivery to help shape programmes that strengthen Scotland’s performing arts sector. Someone who can understand complex challenges, build trusted relationships, develop realistic plans and ensure ideas are followed through to meaningful outcomes.
The Change Programmes Lead plays a key role in helping FST turn ideas into action.
Working closely with members, partners and colleagues, you’ll identify opportunities for positive change, develop practical responses and lead programmes that strengthen Scotland’s performing arts sector.
Some programmes are already well established and ready to grow. Others are emerging ideas that require research, partnership development and careful planning. This role therefore combines strategic thinking with practical delivery, helping shape both current and future areas of work.
Current programmes span areas such as workforce development, mentoring, accessibility, environmental sustainability, organisational resilience and leadership development. While every programme is different, they all share a common purpose: helping Scotland’s performing arts sector become stronger, more connected and better equipped for the future.
This isn’t simply a project management role. It’s about understanding complex challenges, bringing people together, building trusted relationships and creating the conditions for meaningful change. You’ll work across organisations, balancing different perspectives while maintaining a clear focus on shared ambitions and tangible outcomes.
Current Programmes & Priorities
The Change Programmes portfolio continues to evolve in response to member needs and emerging opportunities. Some of the current programmes and workstreams you’ll help lead and develop include:
Bursaries & Professional Development
Leading FST’s professional development bursary programme while exploring opportunities to strengthen its impact, reach and long-term sustainability.
Mentoring & Coaching
Refreshing FST’s mentoring offer through reconnecting previous participants, piloting new models and lighter-touch support surgeries and peer learning.
Workforce Development & Training
Developing and delivering programmes around technical skills, leadership, sustainability and Fair Work through partnerships and targeted professional development opportunities.
Access & Inclusion
Working with Birds of Paradise, Creative Scotland and sector partners to support the future development of Access Scottish Theatre, Scotland’s engagement with the UK-wide All-In programme and wider accessibility infrastructure.
Emerging Needs & Opportunities
Working with FST members and partners to identify new priorities, develop collaborative initiatives and secure partnerships and funding that support the future development of Scotland’s performing arts sector.
ANGELS (Additional Needs Gaining Experience in Life Skills) is a service which works with children and young people, aged 8 to 15, across South Lanarkshire who have additional support needs (ASN).
ANGELS provides a range of weekly group activities which work towards specific outcomes identified by young people and their parents/carers. These activities focus on both social and practical life skills, including:
Children and young people will take part in activities that interest them, helping them to gain new experiences, develop skills, build confidence, and (importantly) have fun. Alongside developing trusting relationships with volunteers and peers, the project will reduce isolation, improve wellbeing, and create a sense of belonging.
COVEY is currently looking for a Group Facilitator to take on the organisation and delivery of our weekly ANGELS activities. Working under the guidance and supervision of the ANGELS Coordinator, the Group Facilitator will help create safe, welcoming and inclusive spaces where children and young people feel supported, heard and encouraged to engage positively.
A key part of the role will involve supporting volunteers, maintaining strong safeguarding practice and ensuring all activity is impactful and aligned with COVEY’s values. For children and young people with more complex or intersecting needs, the Facilitator will work with the Coordinator to develop robust support plans designed to meet the needs and desired outcomes for the participant.
If you are experienced in working with young people with ASN and have ideas for fun activities which help young people to develop life skills, then this is the right role for you.
