Change-makers sought! Do you want to help Scotland to Keep The Promise?
At CELCIS, we are driven by a powerful ambition: to create lasting, transformational change in the lives of children, young people, and families.
At the heart of this ambition is our unwavering commitment to ensuring that the voices, experiences, and rights of people with lived experience of support, care or protection services are not only heard, but understood so that these can meaningfully shape the decisions, services, and systems that affect their daily lives. And, we are committed to embedding lived experience throughout CELCIS, ensuring it informs and influences our internal culture, our ways of working, and our activity, from policy and research to practice improvement and system change.
The successful candidate will build on the strong foundations of participatory practice that have been established at CELCIS.
Supporting the delivery of our strategic approach to embed the voices and experiences of children and families, our Participation Practice Advisor will work with our experienced multidisciplinary teams across CELCIS, and work in partnership with organisations and the children’s services workforce across Scotland and beyond.
This role will have an emphasis on creating the spaces and resources which will equip and enable colleagues and stakeholders to develop good practice and knowledge. In this role, you’ll support the workforce to create readiness and build the confidence, skills, and culture needed to involve people with lived experience in safe, ethical, and meaningful ways. You’ll design and facilitate reflective learning spaces, co-production activities, and inclusive activities that are trauma-informed and rights-based.
We’re looking for someone who brings integrity and deep understanding of this work, someone who has “walked the walk” in Community Learning and Development or a related field, and who is passionate about creating the conditions where children, young people and families are truly seen, heard, and valued.
You’ll be a trusted, skilled facilitator and a passionate advocate for children’s rights and wellbeing.
Applicants with lived experience of support, care or protection services are welcomed and valued.
Aberlour Options Lothian, Prestonpans
Aberlour Options Lothian offers a range of short break services to children and young people with complex needs. We offer a safe, homely environment for a child to come and stay for a short break that gives their families a rest from their caring role. During that break, children enjoy a range of fun activities and experiences with our staff. Our service is very much a ‘home from home’ for the children who stay with us. We are within easy commuting distance of Edinburgh, Midlothian and East Lothian with access via the number 26, 111 and 124 bus routes.
The difference we make to families:
“It’s not easy to accept that sometimes you need help. We had reached rock bottom, but Aberlour Options Lothian was that lifesaving buoyancy aid.
It wasn't easy accepting leaving my son there especially in the early days when it was new to everyone. It is a safe and welcoming place and a second home in many respects now. Somewhere he is safe, cared for and has loads of fun with the carers and other children.
It’s not just about respite; we have received help with managing behaviour, preparing for hospital visits and operations. Help and advice when there seemed to be no one else listening or who understands. It’s hard to look back to where we were but no we wouldn't be here today without their help and support.
To sum it up: Saved our lives. Peace of mind. Finally a rest.”

What We Offer
Heartland Cares is seeking an experienced Business Manager to establish and lead a new way of delivering social care and support in rural Perthshire.
Heartland Cares is the new social enterprise now working in the Rannoch and Tummel and Dunkeld and Birnam areas. Our regulated Care at Home service (due to start in November) works alongside the strength of existing volunteer-led support services, ensuring a joined-up approach to meeting the care needs of people living in remote, rural areas. Our Board of Trustees is passionate about getting positive outcomes for the people who use our services. We aim to expand quickly into new communities and have our eyes firmly on helping to address inequality of access to care services across all remote areas.
With several years of planning and partnership working with the Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership under our belts, we are ambitious for this flagship initiative and are looking for a Business Manager to match.
If your head is in business and your heart is in community, you may be ideal for this role.
Love Glasgow’s heritage? Help steer Glasgow Building Preservation Trust’s strategic direction
We are seeking new voluntary board members to join our board of trustees.
Glasgow Building Preservation Trust is a charity which rescues and re-purposes historic buildings across Glasgow.
We have a legacy of over 40 years of working throughout the city, returning buildings at risk back to their communities from The Briggait, to Castlemilk Stables, Glasgow’s blue police boxes and amazing places like Kelvingrove Bandstand.
We introduced Doors Open Days to the UK and still run the much-loved Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival every September, providing free access to historic buildings and exclusive talks, walks, tours and other experiences.
We believe deeply that heritage and history are for everyone and work hard to help Glaswegians remember and celebrate their city’s stories.
No previous trustee experience is required. Please see our role description, and Reach Volunteering’s guide to Becoming a Trustee for more information.
Successful candidates will be offered attendance to Culture & Business Scotland’s Introduction to Being a Board Member training to ensure you have the tools to help us.
We believe that our board should reflect Glasgow’s diversity and particularly welcome applicants from minority ethnic backgrounds.
We encourage applications from people with experience in finance, law or fundraising/philanthropy at this time, but we are also interested in good people from all professional backgrounds.
The board meets four times a year, and trustees might also attend interim and sub-committee meetings and Trust events in addition to this.
