Background:
Established in 1998, Staf (Scottish Throughcare and Aftercare Forum) is a membership organisation for all those working with young people leaving care. Staf is a national organisation which represents all 32 Local authorities in Scotland
At Staf (Scottish Throughcare and Aftercare Forum), we believe that young people’s voices should shape the systems that affect their lives. That’s why we developed Youth Justice Voices to ensure that young people with experience of the care and justice system are heard, valued, and influential in driving change.
The Role
We are looking for passionate, skilled, and values-driven individual who will ensure the effective delivery and continuous development of a high-quality national participation project, enabling young people with lived experience of the care and justice systems to influence policy, practice and service design.
The role requires a balance of project management, staff supervision, stakeholder engagement, learning development and direct work with young people, ensuring that participation activity is safe, ethical, impactful and aligned with Staf’s values and strategic priorities.
This role presents an opportunity to lead a nationally significant project that supports young people with lived experience to influence meaningful change within youth justice systems in Scotland.
The postholder will play a key role in ensuring that participation is embedded, impactful and contributes to improved outcomes for young people.

This new role would suit someone who is naturally very well-organised, able to build strong relationships and garner support, enjoys working with lots of partners, has experience of Scottish politics, and is committed to climate action and justice. Amidst the self-evident climate emergency it is vital that we re-establish the priority of climate action amongst the public, with politicians and decision makers, and win wide support for urgent change and leadership.
You’ll lead on our engagement with stakeholders, MSPs, government officials and party staff and work to build support through sympathetic groups such as unions and the faith community, in order to help to mobilise our supporters and grow the strong public support for action. You’ll be part of the small SCCS secretariat team that provides support to our diverse members and works with them to plan and deliver advocacy and campaigns activities, so you’ll need to be a great communicator, enthusiastic, proactive and willing to be flexible.
With Scottish elections taking place in 2026, this is an important time to be influencing climate policy. This role will play an essential part in helping the Scottish climate movement navigate the new political context, boost our impact and win deeper support for urgency and action.
Stop Climate Chaos Scotland (SCCS) is Scotland’s climate coalition, bringing together over 70 civil society organisations campaigning together on climate change. Our membership is diverse and includes national and community organisations working on:

About the Service
Wish (Women in Safe Homes) provides accommodation and support for women escaping domestic abuse and who are at risk of experiencing homelessness.
We provide secure, safe accommodation to up to 30 women and their families in individual tenancies across Edinburgh and provide holistic support to them and their families.

To work directly with neurodivergent children and young people (diagnosed and self-identifying) up to age 25. This role encompasses a variety of person-centred support offers (both in-person and remote), including 1:1 issue-based advocacy, coaching support, non-instructed advocacy and transitions.
As our service develops, some elements of the role may involve working with small groups of neurodivergent children and young people. Whilst travel will predominantly be required across the areas highlighted above, further travel across Scotland may be required to meet the needs of children and young people in service.
You will support neurodivergent children and young people to identify the challenges they face and work collaboratively with them to develop plans that promote positive outcomes, uphold their rights, and support their wellbeing. This may include helping them to understand their neurotype, recognise their strengths and support needs, and communicate these effectively to others so they are well supported across all areas of their lives. You will also contribute to the ongoing development of resources.
We support children and young people through in-person sessions, virtual meetings, phone calls, email, and text. You will be an excellent communicator, able to adapt your approach to build strong, trusting relationships with neurodivergent children and young people, and engage effectively with a range of stakeholders.
This post may occasionally require weekend and/or evening work and will involve significant travel within the central belt. Our Children and Young People Specialists support young people in person and remotely. The post involves hybrid working, working from home and from our office in Edinburgh when required, as well as travel to support young people in person, including at meetings or in group settings.

We provide individual lifelong relationship-based independent advocacy and a broad range of imaginative participatory and engagement opportunities for Care Experienced people across Scotland. We work alongside Corporate Parents and communities to broaden understanding and create change. We work with policy makers, leaders, and elected representatives locally and nationally to shape law, policy, and practice, working together to build on the aspirations of The Promise and secure positive change.
The post is primarily focused on the development, delivery, and evaluation of our Communities that Care work within schools primarily in Edinburgh but will feed into our national work too. Providing training and support to schools and other organisations across Scotland and leading on the evaluation and reporting will be key to this role.
The post holder will work with the Coordinator and existing Development Officer to deliver and report on an already-established programme of training and support for all schools in Edinburgh. The post holder will be responsible for liaising with all primary and secondary schools and key senior leaders within the local authority; providing ongoing training and support; gathering evaluation data via ongoing consultation and focus groups with teachers and pupils; and reporting on the impact of this work on the school community/wider local authority.
Whilst the post holder will have a principal focus on Edinburgh schools, they will also support the delivery of the Communities that Care model to schools and local authorities across the country. Participation is also a key part of this role, with the post holder leading on the development, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of local participation groups and supporting local Care Experienced people to engage with our wider membership offer.
The successful candidate will be joining Who Cares? Scotland at an exciting time, when the voices of those who are in or have experienced care are growing in power, individually and collectively – bringing with them insight, challenge, hope and change. Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS) are Scotland’s leading advice charity. They support a network of Citizens Advice Bureaux, all operating as independent charities, to deliver frontline advice services in almost 300 locations.
The charity is driven by the strong belief that every person in Scotland should have access to free, impartial and confidential advice to help them make well-informed decisions. CAS looks at the problems we can all face at times and campaign for change where it is needed most. Their support and advice is available to all and is of particularly benefit to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
The Chair of the Board will lead a team of trustees dedicated to making a positive difference to the lives of people across Scotland. Crucial to ensuring the organisation fulfils its purpose by providing strategic leadership, the Chair leads the Board in offering support and constructive challenge to the Executive team, enabling CAS to successfully achieve its ambitions.
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing leadership to the Board ensuring trustees fulfill their governance responsibilities.
• Inspiring and supporting the CEO and Executive team to deliver on strategic priorities.
• Fostering excellent relationships with members, Scotland’s network of 58 Citizens Advice Bureaux, at a governance level.
• Working closely with the CEO and Executive team to ensure that this network remains at all times well-positioned and forward looking in a challenging political and economic environment.
• Fulfilling a highly visible ambassadorial role for CAS, helping to further develop its profile and representation with government, other organisations and multiple stakeholders.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly experienced leader with a background in public, corporate and/or the charity sector, to drive impact at scale. Providing stewardship in the implementation of the CAS Strategy 2025- 2030 will make a real difference to so many peoples lives.
The Chair will gain unique insight into the social and economic issues in society and play an extremely fulfilling role in addressing these. A structured training programme will be provided to support development and enable the CAS Chair to excel in this role.
This is a voluntary, non-remunerated position and will require a time commitment of approximately two to four days per month.
