Role
Are you outward going, like inspiring both professionals and young people and would like to work for a young people’s charity in a flexible way with guaranteed hours? We are looking for a teacher with experience of teaching PSHE or with pastoral experience, a health professional or someone with youth work/youth justice experience to join our small team.
The Talk About Trust charity has 15 years’ experience of providing alcohol and substance education and awareness in different ways, to young people age 11–25, and their parents/carers, and providing engaging and evidence-based resources and training for teachers, community leaders and for those working with young people. We work across England and Scotland with schools, local authorities, youth groups, foster agencies, police, housing associations, pupil referral units, special schools and parents/carers to provide holistic support to young people of all abilities and backgrounds. This part time role involves providing training and workshops in settings across Scotland.
Main Responsibilities:
- To work closely up skilling staff in the 5 charities (Action for Children, Enable, Street League, Aberdeen Foyer and FARE) that the Talk About Trust work with as part of an Inspiring Scotland funded project helping vulnerable 16 – 25 year olds into work.
- Complete quarterly reporting for above 2 year project to the funders
- Support teachers, youth professionals, partner charity staff and those working with young people on a day-to-day basis with training, resources, email and phone support. Host implementation and guidance workshops on Talk About trust resources and lessons.
- To contact, meet and network with schools, youth organisations, local authorities, ASL, PRU’s and relevant networks and groups in Scotland
- Provide a monthly report of all activities to the charity and its trustees and attend remote monthly management meetings and briefings
- Display a full understanding and compliance with data privacy, safeguarding and GDPR in all instances.
The position is home based, but you must be willing to travel throughout Scotland.
You are expected to:
- Be confident using IT packages including Microsoft TEAMS, Zoom, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Be confident in making presentations to professionals and running interactive workshops following full training
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Have a background of teaching/health promotion or working with vulnerable young people and or local authorities
- To work in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures.

About Scottish Drugs Forum
Scottish Drugs Forum (SDF) is improving Scotland’s approach to drug-related issues.
Established in 1986, SDF is a membership-based organisation and a registered charity.
SDF works with policy makers, service planners and commissioners, service managers and staff as well as people who use or have used services to ensure service quality and evidence-based policy and practice.
We are pleased to be recruiting for this exciting new position of Communications Worker to support our communication and information activity on a day-to-day basis.
About the role
This post offers key support to SDF’s communications activities as part of a small, dedicated communication team.
The post involves the production of regular communications to SDF members and other stakeholders including a mailing list of almost 4000 contacts. The role will be responsible for regular posting and engagement with social media; updating SDF’s online presence via websites; the production of video and still photography resources; support in marketing and delivering events including a programme of national conferences and webinars. The post also supports the production of SDF resources, recruitment of volunteers, trainee and permanent staff. The postholder will contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of SDF’s media and communication activity.
You will engage with a range of stakeholders including people who develop policy; people who design, commission, manage and deliver services for people who use drugs as well as people with lived and living experience of a drug problem. It also involves contributing to the design and production of communications and resources for this variety of audiences.
The role will include the development and editing of video and still image resources and support to online events. As part of a team, you will be supported to develop skills in these areas but should have enthusiasm and a demonstrable aptitude for this work.

Wellbeing Services Support Worker (female)

Please note; As this post will involve work in a women’s only service, there is a genuine occupational requirement to ensure that we recruit a female Wellbeing Services Support Worker and therefore this post is only open to women (exempt under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010).
Role:
The Wellbeing Services Support Worker will provide safe, effective tiered support for female survivors of gender based violence and their families who access our services across Glasgow and are most at risk from addictions, homelessness, social isolation and poverty. This role will focus specifically on supporting those aged between 16 – 25. The service will address health and social wellbeing, while promoting and supporting the development of trauma informed practice; guiding individuals through their healing process, introducing tools to develop coping skills and to live manageable lives.

Organisation Profile:
Glasgow Council on Alcohol (GCA) was founded in 1965 and is the oldest established Council on Alcohol in Scotland. GCA is a voluntary organisation working to reduce the harm caused by alcohol misuse through the provision of a range of high quality advice, information, counselling, support, prevention and education and training services.
The successful candidate who will be working in a team and will be responsible for delivering a service within a hospital setting.
The service will provide additional specialist support for engaging with individuals at risk of or presenting as homeless. The service will provide an assertive response to homelessness and crisis that may put a service users tenancy or safety at risk.
The aim of the service is to reduce homelessness presentations due to unmet needs of individuals with problematic substance misuse. To support and address issues pivotal in causing homelessness i.e. support access to mental health services, support for alcohol use and engaging with drug services etc.
The Dedicated Addictions Worker will also provide external training, giving an overview of the complexities of working with people with addictions, to local authority Housing Officers as well as non-housing staff and services.
The successful candidate will have experience of working within a caring environment, as well as within the addictions and housing sector. They will hold a relevant qualification in respect of this and can present and deliver training on Alcohol and other substances. They will have excellent organisation, communication and I.T. skills, and can demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.
The successful applicants will be responsible for delivery of a support service within an Accident & Emergency Department Hospital setting.
The service offers a care model involving early intervention with individuals who present with Addictions issues by supporting and directing them into services who can meet their needs.
Motivating patients, building and strengthening recovery, supporting engagement and compliance with treatment services, and assisting with any identified health and social needs, in particular those who may be at risk of homelessness and loss of tenancy is the focus of this approach.
Successful candidates will have experience of working in a caring vocation and hold a relevant qualification. They will have good organisation, communication, and IT skills, and can demonstrate an ability to work using their own initiative.
