Your role, as Employment Coordinator is to provide support to young people who have barriers to work, to make progress towards and achieve well paid, sustainable employment. You will work in the local community engaging with young people face to face on a one to one and/or group basis to profile their skills and aspirations for work.

You will be an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who can provide confidential Counselling services for young people in secondary school settings.

You must hold a recognised diploma in Counselling, already have or be working towards BACP/COSCA/NCPS accreditation (as an individual) and have experience of working with young people in a therapeutic way. You will be a reflective practitioner with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of staff, parents and young people. Referrals come through East Renfrewshire HSCP Healthier Minds hub and you will be expected to counsel a range of vulnerable young people aged 10-18 years who may be experiencing emotional, behavioural and psychological difficulties. You will have an understanding of adolescent development, be able to identify emotional and mental health problems in young people and where appropriate refer on to higher tiered mental health services.

You will be required to maintain confidential records, provide regular statistical reports and contribute to the development and evaluation of this project.

Are you ready to elevate your expertise to a managerial level?

We are a large service supporting over 50 adults with a learning and/or physical disability and/or mental health diagnosis. We support people in their own homes across 17 sites which are either individual or shared tenancies to achieve their personal outcomes in all areas of their lives including tenancy, health, relationships and meaningful activities. Most people are supported over a 24 hour period including sleepovers and staff work to a rota tailored to the people we support’s individual needs. We also have an inclusion service where we facilitate various activities.

Our work is commission via the relevant Local Authority Learning Disability Teams. We have good links with the teams including OTs, nursing, physiotherapy and social work. Our service is registered with the Care Inspectorate as a dual registration – Care at Home and Housing with Support. All of our staff are all registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

Our management team consists of a Service Manager, a Practice and Improvement Manager, four Service Co-ordinators and 7 Assistant Service Co-ordinators. We also have a dedicated admin team.

As a new first-line manager, it is crucial to grasp the fundamental requirements of a social care service and the needs of the individuals we support. You will be guided by a skilled and approachable management team while leading your own team(s). This role offers a unique chance to develop your managerial abilities while remaining actively involved in improving the lives of those you support. Your duties will include working at different locations in Renfrewshire, covering various shifts, including enhanced rate sleepovers. You will also have dedicated admin time. While having a driver's license is beneficial, it is not compulsory.

Key and our subsidiary, Community Lifestyles, we provide person-centred support to over 2,000 disabled people, across 17 Scottish local authorities, to enable them to lead full, active lives in their own homes and communities.

The people we support have a wide range of life experiences and needs, from young people still at school through to people in their 90s. Our approach, therefore, is about working in partnership with the person, and the important people in their life, to build flexible, responsive support which is focused on them achieving what they want from life.

We are committed to the Scottish Government’s Coming Home agenda, having a track record in supporting people with complex support needs, people moving out of institution care including those living in out of areas placement, far from their families, friends, and original communities. Individual services range from a few hours per week to 24/7 support in people’s own homes and communities, reflecting each person’s agreed outcomes and personal plan.

Working closely with our Learning and Development Team, operational managers, housing colleagues and team of specialist behaviour support instructors, you will:

• Promote the highest standard of person-centred, outcomes-based support.
• Lead on the delivery of our Positive Behaviour Support and Trauma-focused strategies.
• Provide supervisory guidance and development support to our team of behaviour support instructors and together oversee a Community of Practice for our Practice Leaders.

We are looking for someone who has::

• Managed and led a team delivering social care support.
• Successfully supported individuals with very complex support needs to live good lives in the community.
• Led practice development and training in relation to positive behaviour support within a human-rights and person-centred approach.
• Knowledge and understanding of current social care policy and practice environment including the Scottish Government Coming Home agenda.
• Well-developed leadership, interpersonal and written skills.
• A recognised social care or relevant professional qualification and while a recognised PBS/BILD qualification would be advantageous, this is not essential as we will offer support to attain this.

Based in Glasgow, the role is across all our operational areas, and will involve travel across Scotland working closely with managers, complex support need instructors, staff and the people we support.
