The Scottish Policy & Research Exchange (SPRE) is seeking new trustees to help shape the organisation as it moves into the next phase of its growth. SPRE exists to support more equitable public governance and positive outcomes for people and the environment in Scotland. We do this through a range of capacity strengthening activities aimed at supporting meaningful connections and learning between researchers, knowledge mobilisers, policymakers and practitioners.

SPRE is a values-led organisation seeking to live these values through our intersectional praxis. We are particularly keen to appoint new Trustees who align with these values and have strengths in any of the following skills and experience:

• Scottish politics and policy.
• Entrepreneurship and start-ups.
• Third sector governance.
• Business development and consultancy.
• Organisational policy development.
• Human resources and people matters.
• Experience as a Treasurer or with the financial governance of small charities.

We aim to recruit 5-7 Trustees, including a new Treasurer. We would welcome applicants with experience in setting up financial systems and good governance in a new, small, organisation.

We have an opportunity for a Strategic Planning Manager to join the Strategic Planning team on a full-time fixed term contract for 12 months. This is a dynamic role where you will co-ordinate the key components of the strategy management system.

Our ambitious 3-year Corporate Plan sets stretching goals to guide the organisation’s delivery of the strategy. The Strategic Planning team plays a key role in driving the Fund to achieve our overarching strategic ambitions. You will be part of a small, dispersed team working flexibly to meet the needs of our key stakeholders. The team oversees the Fund’s corporate planning, business planning and project/programme management processes to ensure we achieve our strategic ambitions.

You will bring expertise in strategic planning to facilitate the annual business planning process within senior leadership teams across the Fund, supporting directorates to deliver our strategic aspirations. We are looking for someone with a keen eye for detail who can also see the bigger picture. Through a continuous improvement approach you will regularly review our ways of working and be empowered to identify and implement innovative solutions. With your strategic thinking and analytical skills you will contribute to reports to senior leaders to provide assurance, raise issues and support effective decision making.

You will work collaboratively with our wider network of colleagues from across the organisation to deliver our key corporate processes, including the Finance team to ensure alignment between planning and budgeting.

You’ll play a key role in reporting against our strategic transformation and delivery programme, helping the Fund to assess whether we are on track to achieve our goals. You will have a strong background in project delivery, helping to develop and strengthen our internal project management capabilities by rolling out project management tools and templates, and providing coaching and guidance to project leads.

With strong organisational skills you will manage your workload and priorities throughout the year, ensuring that team priorities are met and aligning your efforts with the overall goals of the team. Your strong communication skills and passion will help raise the profile of the team and our work with colleagues across the Fund. There will be some travel expectations, with quarterly face-to-face team meetings within one of our offices.

Introduction

Community Land Scotland is a membership organisation which represents the interests of community landowners throughout Scotland and which currently has over 130 Members. It is the national voice for community ownership and land reform in Scotland, the aim of which is to diversify the pattern of land ownership to ensure many more people can benefit from Scotland’s land. Land ownership matters because it significantly influences how land is used and crucially who benefits.

Community Land Scotland operates by taking the real lived experiences of communities and using it to influence positive change.

About the role

Community Land Scotland has a UK wide reputation for promoting community empowerment through the democratic ownership of key assets in local economies, building community wealth and resilience. We are regularly asked to speak nationally within Scotland, within the UK and internationally, on land reform and community empowerment. We are the only civil society organisation that exists to fulfill this advocacy function.

This role would suit a recent graduate or someone with similar experience. The role is envisaged as relatively entry-level in which training and development will take place alongside gaining a wide range of experiences, all of which will support career development.

As Policy Support you will have a specific role within the policy and communications team to help research and shape policy development whilst sharing our message with a wider audience.

We are looking for a Policy Support Officer who is a strong oral and written communicator with strong organisational and administrative skills, who can digest and synthesise complex information and then present it in an engaging format and who has a passion for community-led approaches and land reform.

The main objectives of this post, and outcomes to be delivered are to:

• Help support the organisation’s busy policy agenda with a focus on developing policy to deliver more community ownership, further land reform in Scotland and to help communities deliver their sustainable development objectives
• Promoting awareness and benefits of community land ownership across all communities in Scotland and particularly spreading our message to new demographics
• Demonstrate how more community ownership creates more communities in control of their own sustainable development
• Develop, facilitate and promote networking among a range of partner organisations that promote community ownership and land reform in Scotland
• Work with the Director of Policy to represent Community Land Scotland’s members from Holyrood to local political discussions and in wider forums

We are now recruiting for a 12 month fixed term full-time Communications Support Worker (Storytelling) role. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with relevant skills and experience to join a friendly, hardworking, passionate team keen to make a difference to our communities.

Working across Corra, with the Policy and Communications Team the postholder will deliver communications activity which supports Corra’s communications strategy, including develop and produce stories from Corra’s funded work alongside communities, producing social media content, communication packs, newsletters and website content, as well as designing and delivering events.

The role will support continuous development of our communications strategies, ensuring our communications are accessible, engaging and have impact, as well as supporting the wider Corra team to implement the communications guide and policies. Duties also include looking after systems and records, and liaise with suppliers including designers, web designers and photographers.

The role will require someone who has experience of producing social media content and copy writing, as well as working or volunteering in a communications role or similar. Excellent interpersonal skills, relationship building and communication skills, a willingness to learn, excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise, and a commitment to Corra’s ‘ways of working’ principles and supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
