Role

Part political, part business and part charity – NUS is a third sector membership organisation with a twist! The student movement in the UK is made up of 500 students’ unions and 7 million students. NUS sits at the heart of this movement, delivering a national student voice and supporting local students’ unions to grow.

In Scotland we represent 500,000 students, with 32 students’ associations in our membership, including all college associations. At NUS Scotland we’ve channelled that power in the last year to win over £70 million of new funding for student hardship, digital poverty, mental health and student associations.

What’s the job?

NUS Scotland is one of the most influential campaigning organisations in Scotland, securing significant wins for students and promoting the importance of strong students’ associations.

As part of the NUS Scotland team, you will provide support and advice to students’ associations in Scotland. The vital administrative, logistical and events support you provide will ensure the team and the NUS Scotland President can engage with students’ associations across Scotland and showcase the positive work they do for students.

Working alongside our NUS Charity colleagues, you’ll also support delivery of a range of events for students’ associations, including campaign training, workshops, and networking events, as well as our annual conference.

If you’re passionate about protecting the interests of students – come join us in Scotland’s student movement!

Who you are

• You’ll be organised and comfortable putting in place systems and processes to keep others organised too

• With collaboration at the heart of your approach you’ll be excited to work with colleagues across the student movement to support and advise students’ associations

• Your personal values will mean you are committed to being part of an environment that promotes equality of opportunity whilst recognising and valuing diversity

We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates, as they are under-represented within NUS Scotland currently.

Why apply?

In return for your passion and experience we offer the flexibility for work-life balance, a competitive salary for the non-profit sector and excellent holidays and benefits.

This role has a usual working pattern of 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday, between 8am to 6pm, with some out of hours work to support events.

Due to the role being externally funded, it is currently fixed term until the end of March 2022. We would also be open to considering the role as a secondment opportunity.

We’re committed to equality of opportunity for all. We welcome applications from individuals regardless of their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, age, gender, or disability. You can be yourself here whoever you are, be proud of the work you do and build a career in a place that knows different is good.
