Role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role raising awareness of sight loss for blind and partially sighted young people in Scotland, as part of RNIB’s award-winning youth forum; Haggeye.

Haggeye provides a friendly and supportive platform which allows young people to raise awareness of what it's like to be blind or partially sighted in Scotland today and what's important to them. Our members work together to help create a society where sight loss is not a barrier to living life to the full.

As the Haggeye Coordinator, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting and growing the Haggeye membership
  • Developing and delivering a range of events for young people
  • Developing and delivering a range of training to members in response to identified needs
  • Coordinating Haggeye involvement in the Scottish Youth Parliament
  • Managing volunteers to provide support for young people and activities

About you

You will have experience of working with young people and facilitating in person and online engagement. You will also need knowledge of provision and support for young people with vision impairment and their families.

Knowledge of relevant legislative and policy frameworks in Scotland and across the UK is equally important.

In return

We offer a competitive salary, a stimulating and supportive working environment and a benefits package including:

  • 26 days holiday per year (plus bank holidays – pro rata), which increase with service
  • Excellent pension schemes
  • RNIB Rewards - Our employee discounts platform gives you access to offers at over 800 in-store and online retailers
  • In-house training and development opportunities
  • Flexible working arrangements - Each new member of staff will be given a laptop to make working flexibly easy
