Programme Manager (Self Management)

Role

Interested in making a difference through grant-making and supporting self management?

The ALLIANCE has an opportunity to manage a team that brings together people and programmes to share knowledge of new ways of working and raise awareness of self management to support people’s health and wellbeing.

You will manage the c£2m self management fund and spotlight innovative projects working directly with people and using their experience to find ways to improve wellbeing and support rights-based self management approaches.

You will have:

  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Good research and analytical skills, and ability to demonstrate and evidence impact to a wide audience
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and audit trails
  • A good understanding of the effect of long term conditions on people’s lives and the importance and principles of self management
  • A good understanding of the voluntary sector and community issues
  • IT skills in word processing, email, internet, databases and PowerPoint
  • Strong commitment to the values of the ALLIANCE, including equality and diversity
  • Understanding of membership organisations/networks and an enthusiastic approach to involving, supporting and responding to stakeholders
  • Enthusiasm, flexibility and the ability to cope well under pressure
  • A good team player who is able to support colleagues.

It would be desirable for you to have experience of:

  • grant-making
  • managing budgets
  • line management
  • delivering training to different groups of people
  • engaging with people in interactive and creative ways, and to be
  • educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
