South West Community Transport is a Scottish charity that supports organisations and charities in Glasgow and surrounding areas. The groups are varied, some of which include; specialist schools, parent and toddler groups, youth groups, elderly support organisations, sports groups and charities helping those with physical and/or mental health challenges and those fighting addictions.

Role Overview

Job Title: Community Transport Driver

Hourly Rate: £12.60 per hour (increasing to £13.45 on 1st of April 2026)

Hours: Sessional – Monday to Friday

Term: Sessional Contract (3 months initial probationary period)

This is a vital role in our organisation and the key duties include:

• Have a D1 category driving licence.

• Ensure the roadworthiness and cleanliness of the vehicle daily.

• Obey all traffic laws, always driving legally and safely.

• Always ensure the safety of passengers.

• Recognise and assist with the additional needs of children and vulnerable adults, the elderly, and/or people with disabilities.

• Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed as required.

• Always provide a high standard of driving and customer service, being friendly and professional to customers and colleagues.

• Have excellent time-keeping skills and flexible with working hours in accordance with the needs of the organisation.

• Any other relevant duties as directed by the Service Manager.

Glasgow North West Citizens Advice Bureau (GNWCAB) is an independent charity that provides free, impartial, and confidential information and advice services in the north west of Glasgow. We offer support on issues ranging from debt, benefits, and welfare rights to consumer rights, finances, and budgeting support.

Our services are available to everyone in our local communities. We aim to make them as accessible as possible by promoting equality and diversity and by challenging discrimination.

Who are we looking for?

We currently have a small but strong Board of Directors with diverse professional expertise. We are seeking new Chairperson who can lead the Bureau through a period of premises change and support and develop our strategic plans for the future, ensuring we provide the most relevant and accessible advice services possible.

The role offers the opportunity to a make a central and strategic contribution to supporting the people of north west Glasgow with a range of pressing advice issues. Our work at GNWCAB also makes a fundamental contribution to the campaigns and advocacy work of Citizens Advice Scotland on behalf of the full network of CABs.

To support these outcomes, we plan for a minimum 6-month induction period during which the successful candidate will shadow the current Chair and get to know our organisation in detail as a Director. Once fully in post as Chair, you will be further supported by our experienced Vice-Chair and Finance, Risk, and Audit (FRAC) Committee Chair.

We welcome applications from candidates with experience of organisational leadership who feel passionate about our work, regardless of professional background. We are looking for candidates with a sound understanding of (third sector) governance, financial acumen, and experience contributing to or leading boards.

We want our Board to be representative of our local community and so would welcome approaches from people who live locally or have lived experience of issues facing our clients. We encourage applications from groups that are underrepresented on charity boards, particularly people from Black, Asian, or other minority ethnic communities, as well as young and Disabled people.

Other key aspects of the role include:

Time commitment

The expected commitment for the Chair is approximately 30 hours per quarter, incorporating flexibility to work around a full-time working schedule. Board and Finance, Risk and Audit Committee (FRAC) meetings are each held 5 times a year, two weeks apart. Board meetings are held at GNWCAB in Maryhill, Glasgow on Tuesdays 5:30-7:30pm. FRAC meetings are held online Tuesdays 5:00-6:30pm.

Our Community Healthcare Support Services provide access to a range of supported self-management and community recovery services to support people across Scotland to manage their health as well as possible and adjust to life after a diagnosis of a chest or heart condition or after a stroke.

The Stroke Nurse plays a key role in supporting a seamless transition from hospital back into the community for people who have experienced a stroke and their families. The role focuses on helping individuals adjust to life after stroke by providing personalised information, advice and emotional support. A core part of the role is enabling people to develop confidence in self management, supporting them to build the skills and knowledge needed to manage their condition, maxinmise independence and improve their long term wellbeing.

The Stroke Nurse will also help deliver the evidence-based, six-week Chronic Disease Self-Management Programme, supporting people to build confidence and skills in managing their long-term health.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who is organised and motivated, with good communication skills. Candidates must have a first level general nursing qualification and have a minimum of 2 years’ post-registration experience in either a hospital or community setting. Experience working with people affected by stroke is essential.

The support is person centred, and individuals are supported via 1:1, support group both face to face and online.

My Support Day are provision holders and distributors of Naloxone.

We are also in partnership between Liber8 to deliver the service FREE – Family Recovery Everyone Everywhere. This service is based across South Lanarkshire to access one-to-one support, group support, learning and development and events for the whole family. This service will also offer counselling, mediation and therapeutic services to Individuals using the service which can tailor their support to suit their needs.

Our Board wishes to expand its skills base and welcomes individuals with relevant financial, community and business experience. We are looking to attract individuals with skills and experience ranging from social media, human resources, community learning & development, legal, finance/fundraising, marketing and, most importantly, an interest in the wellbeing of families who are affected by someone else's substance use with a passion to make family recovery visible.

The position of trustee is a voluntary position, but travel expenses and other reasonable expenses accrued when carrying out the role will be paid.

Time Commitment

We ask board member candidates for a minimum commitment of attending 1 meeting every quarter, held online or in person, with email contact on matters arising between meetings. Alongside this, additional requests may be made for support with board activities such as recruitment of staff on an occasional basis

ABOUT THE SERVICES

Barnardo's Caern Disability Services consists of three unique Projects who deliver a variety of quality services for young people with learning disabilities and/or autism. We have done this for over forty years.

Our Caern Short Breaks service supports up to 6 children and young people at any one time aged 5-18 by offering short break packages to them and their families. All staff play an active role in supporting the children, young people and their families/carers to achieve positive outcomes, as identified in the Young People's Individual Support Plans.

Our Pentland Way service is a residential setting providing support to up to three young people. Using a person-centred approach, we aspire to create an environment in which the young people are happy, nurtured and safe. We aim to enhance their lives by supporting them to develop independence in both the domestic environment and the community.

ABOUT YOU

You will work As & When shifts to assist with gaps in the Service rota due to staff vacancies, holidays and sickness absence. You will be supported and managed on shift by our Residential Project Workers. Typical day shifts are worked over 8 hours between the hours of 7am and 10pm and Waking Night shifts are worked over 10 hours - typically between 10pm and 8am. As an A&W worker, you have the flexibility to work the shifts that suit your own needs.

Ideally you will have experience in working directly with children and young people in a residential setting. Experience in supporting children and young people with a learning disability and/or Autism would be an advantage. Communication with the young people is paramount - the key is time tabling; structure; reliability and consistency. You will be faced with behaviours that challenge, including physical.

The staff team across Caern Services must be fully accepting of our children and be prepared to offer them a professional relationship based on acceptance and informed by our understanding of their individual needs, wishes and experiences. We are passionate about the children and young people that we care for, showing understanding, empathy and consistency in our approach.

You will hold (or be willing to work towards) a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 7 or above (for example SVQ3 children and young people) plus an HNC in social services. These qualifications are required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as part of your employment. There may be external grants available to partly fund this.
