SNAP Special Needs Action Project

Service Manager

  • SNAP Special Needs Action Project
  • Full time
  • £34,000 – £38,000
  • Hybrid: Inverness
  • Closing 31st October 2026

We’re recruiting a Service Manager

Help us make a difference to children, young people, adults and families across Highland.

SNAP is looking for an experienced, compassionate and enthusiastic Service Manager to help lead our services and support our team through the next stage of SNAP’s development.

This is a senior role – but we’re not looking for someone who wants to lead from behind a desk.

We’re looking for someone who wants to understand our services, know our staff, meet our families and see first-hand the difference SNAP makes.

About the role

This is an important role at the heart of SNAP. Our Service Manager leads the day-to-day delivery of our services, supports and develops our operational team, and helps make sure that every service is safe, well organised, person-centred and responsive to the people and families who rely on us.

SNAP is registered with the Care Inspectorate as a support service (not care at home). The successful candidate will take on the responsibilities of Registered Manager for this service, working closely with the Care Inspectorate and meeting relevant SSSC requirements. You will be part of SNAP’s leadership team and will work directly with the Chief Officer to support service quality, workforce development and future growth.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading and supporting staff and volunteers across SNAP’s services.

• Overseeing safe, high-quality service delivery and ensuring individual needs, risk assessments and support plans are understood and followed.

• Maintaining strong safeguarding, regulatory, health and safety and quality assurance standards.

• Supporting recruitment, induction, supervision, appraisal, training and staff development.

• Building positive relationships with children, young people, adults, families, carers and professionals.

• Overseeing referrals, reviews, incidents, complaints and service improvement actions.

• Working with the Chief Officer and wider team to develop services, plan staffing and manage resources responsibly.

• Undertake the responsibilities of Registered Manager for our regulated services.

Who we’re looking for

You don’t need to come from one particular type of organisation.

You might currently work in social care, children’s services, disability services, community support or another related field.

What we really want is someone who combines experience and professional confidence with compassion and common sense.

You’ll be someone who can make difficult decisions when needed, but who also listens.

Someone who understands regulation and quality, without losing sight of the individual person behind the paperwork.

And someone who believes that supporting and developing a team is every bit as important as directing one.

Experience of leading regulated care or support services would be particularly valuable.

You will need to hold a relevant qualification in health and social care, social work, education, community learning and development, or a related discipline. This could mean an SVQ3, an HNC or a practice award in the supervisor or manager category.

We are happy to discuss supporting the right candidate to complete an additional qualification where appropriate.

• Experience of leading or delivering care, support or similar services for children, young people or adults with additional support needs or learning disabilities.

• Experience of supervising, motivating and developing staff.

• A sound understanding of safeguarding, risk management and quality in care or support settings.

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

• Strong organisation, resilience and the ability to make balanced decisions in a changing environment.

Where you’ll work

The role will be based across SNAP’s offices at Drummond School and Seafield Road, Inverness.

Following an initial 12-week period, there may be some flexibility for home working where this suits the needs of the role and the organisation.

The role may also involve some travel associated with SNAP services, activities and meetings.

Why SNAP?

Because this is a job where you can see the difference you make.

This is an opportunity to take on a genuinely influential role within a well-established Highland charity, joining SNAP at an important point in its development.

You’ll be part of a committed and experienced staff and volunteer team, within an organisation that has strong roots in the Highland community and is continuing to evolve in response to what children, young people, adults and families need.

You will have the opportunity to:

• help shape how SNAP’s services develop for the future;

• play a key role in maintaining the quality and sustainability of our services;

• develop and improve services in response to changing needs; and

• be part of an organisation where relationships, community and the people we support really matter.

If you’re looking for your next leadership role and want it to be somewhere that genuinely matters, we’d love to hear from you.

The Robertson Trust exists to prevent and reduce poverty and trauma in Scotland. We bring organisations, communities and partners together to help create lasting change.

We are looking for an exceptional Venue Manager to lead The Barracks, our unique conference centre and charity hub in Stirling.

This is not a traditional venue-management role.

As Venue Manager, you will take responsibility for the overall operation, performance and future development of a vibrant and growing venue that brings together charities, community organisations, partners and visitors from across Scotland. You will lead an experienced onsite team, oversee customer and tenant experience, manage commercial performance, build strategic partnerships and play a key role in shaping the future direction of the venue.

Whether you come from conference and events, hospitality, facilities management, visitor attractions, property management or another customer-focused operational environment, this is an opportunity to combine commercial thinking with genuine social impact.

Why join us?

This is a rare opportunity to:

· Lead a highly regarded conference centre and charity hub with a strong reputation.

· Shape the future development, profile and growth of The Barracks.

· Work with a wide range of charities, public bodies, businesses and community partners.

· Lead a talented and committed team.

· Enjoy a broad and varied leadership role spanning operations, customer experience, commercial development and stakeholder engagement.

· Join an organisation recognised for its values-led culture and commitment to supporting communities across Scotland.

· Benefit from flexible and hybrid working arrangements where operational requirements allow.

About the role

As Venue Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that The Barracks delivers an outstanding experience for venue users, event organisers, tenants, visitors and partners.

You will lead day-to-day operations while also driving longer-term improvement and growth. You'll oversee venue performance, financial management, business development activity, health and safety compliance, property-related matters and contractor relationships. You'll use data, feedback and insight to identify opportunities to enhance services, grow income and maximise the impact of the venue.

A key part of the role will be building strong relationships, both within the venue and externally. You'll work closely with tenants, community organisations, partner agencies, suppliers and colleagues across The Robertson Trust to ensure The Barracks continues to thrive as a welcoming, accessible and sustainable charity hub.

About you

We're looking for an approachable and credible leader who combines strong operational oversight with excellent people skills.

You will bring:

· Experience of managing a venue, conference facility, hospitality operation, visitor destination, facilities function or similar customer-facing service.

· A track record of leading and developing teams.

· Experience of managing budgets, income and expenditure.

· Strong commercial awareness and a focus on sustainable growth.

· Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder-management skills.

· Experience of working with suppliers and external contractors.

· Confidence managing multiple priorities in a busy operational environment.

· The ability to make sound decisions and remain calm under pressure.

· Knowledge of health and safety and risk management within a public-facing environment.

Experience within the charity sector would be welcome, but it is not essential. We are interested in hearing from talented leaders from a range of sectors who can demonstrate a commitment to excellent service, inclusive leadership and continuous improvement.

About The Barracks

The Barracks is a distinctive conference centre and charity hub based in Stirling. Home to a diverse community of organisations, it provides high-quality meeting, event and collaboration space for charities and other organisations while serving as a welcoming and accessible environment for tenants, visitors and partners.

As Venue Manager, you will play a central role in ensuring that The Barracks continues to be a place where organisations connect, collaborate and create positive change.

Ready to make an impact?

If you're an experienced operational leader looking for a role with purpose, challenge and variety, we'd love to hear from you.

Join us and help shape the future of one of Scotland's most distinctive charity venues.

Trustee

  • Management Board
  • Unpaid
  • On site: Greenock
  • Closing 30th October 2026

Help shape the future of a community charity working to prevent suicide and improve mental health and wellbeing across Inverclyde. We are seeking trustees who can bring sound judgement, useful experience and a commitment to the people and communities we support.

About The Anchor

The Anchor SCIO, formerly Man On! Inverclyde, was founded in 2020. Our work is rooted in relationships, lived experience and accessible community support. We support children, young people, adults and families, creating opportunities for people to connect, build trust and find help.

Our direction is Hope Before Crisis: reaching people earlier, strengthening trusted relationships and building support around everyday life. Relational practice, a trauma-responsive approach and children’s rights inform how we work.

Why we are recruiting

We want a balanced and effective Board whose collective skills and perspectives complement those of our existing Office Bearers and Trustees, CEO and Senior Management Team. New trustees will help scrutinise decisions, strengthen oversight and guide the charity’s development and sustainability.

Skills and experience we are seeking

We particularly welcome experience in one or more of the following areas. You do not need expertise in all five.

  1. Human resources and people management Employment practice, organisational culture, workforce development and people-related risk, helping ensure staff and volunteers are supported and treated fairly.
  2. Digital and technology Effective use of digital systems, data and technology, with appropriate Board oversight of information governance, data protection and cyber risk.
  3. Communications and marketing Strategic communications, organisational profile and stakeholder engagement, helping The Anchor communicate its work and impact clearly and responsibly.
  4. Risk management and governance Scrutiny of strategic, operational, financial and reputational risks, including the controls, assurance and reporting needed to manage them.
  5. Local knowledge and community connections Understanding of Inverclyde’s communities and connections with local partners, services and networks, bringing community perspectives into Board decisions.

A Board that reflects our communities

We welcome people of different genders, ages, professional backgrounds and life experiences. Lived experience and local knowledge are valued alongside professional expertise. Previous trustee experience is not essential. We are looking for people who will listen, contribute and learn.

The trustee role:

Trustees share responsibility for governance and strategic direction. The CEO and Senior Management Team lead day-to-day delivery. Every trustee contributes to the Board’s collective decisions and responsibilities.

What you will contribute

  • Help set and review the charity’s strategy, priorities and longer-term sustainability, ensuring decisions reflect its charitable purposes and the needs of the people it supports.
  • Review finances, budgets, performance and impact, ask constructive questions and help ensure resources are used responsibly.
  • Scrutinise risk, safeguarding, employment practice, information governance and other areas of compliance, seeking appropriate evidence and assurance.
  • Support and constructively challenge the CEO and Senior Management Team, respecting the boundaries between governance and operational management.
  • Bring your perspective and skills to discussions, contribute to agreed Board activity and help strengthen relationships and the charity’s reputation.

What we ask of every trustee

You should share our commitment to suicide prevention, mental health and community wellbeing. You will need to listen respectfully, consider different perspectives, exercise independent judgement and be willing to ask questions, including when decisions are difficult.

Trustees must act in the charity’s interests, ensure it operates consistently with its purposes, and exercise care and diligence. You must declare and appropriately manage conflicts of interest, maintain confidentiality and work within the governing document and relevant legal requirements. Appointment is subject to eligibility checks and completion of the trustee declaration.

Time and practical commitment

  • Location and status: Inverclyde. This is a voluntary, unpaid governance role. Any expenses will be handled in line with the charity’s policy.
  • Meetings: Quarterly board meetings with a sub-committee group prior to each meeting. Trustees should prepare by reading papers and attend regularly.
  • Between meetings: Allow time for induction, development and agreed Board tasks. Any additional responsibilities will be discussed before appointment. The appointment term will follow the governing document.

Induction and development

New trustees will receive an induction covering the charity’s work, governing document, finances, key policies and trustee responsibilities. Ongoing development and succession planning will support new and existing trustees to contribute effectively as the organisation evolves.
