Role
The Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA) is seeking an experienced and values driven senior leader to join our Executive Team as Director of Operations & Membership.
In this pivotal role, you will lead the organisational functions that power SFHA’s success including governance, finance, people and culture, membership services, corporate services, risk and digital compliance. You will ensure our operations are efficient, our services deliver exceptional value, and our members experience a modern, professional and supportive federation.
You will lead governance, organisational compliance and the delivery of high quality Board and Committee support while overseeing financial planning, reporting and resource management to ensure long term sustainability. You will drive a positive and inclusive people culture by leading HR, workforce development and organisational wellbeing, and strengthen the membership offer by ensuring services reflect sector needs and deliver clear value. In addition, you will improve systems, processes and data use to enhance operational performance and the member experience, while providing visible leadership across the organisation and deputising for the Chief Executive when required.
You will be a senior leader with experience across operations, corporate services, membership or organisational management, skilled in leading multidisciplinary teams and shaping a positive culture. Confident working with Boards and senior stakeholders, you will be an effective communicator with a strong track record of improving systems, services and organisational performance, and you will be motivated by purpose, collaboration and delivering meaningful impact.

The Role
Obesity Action Scotland, hosted by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, is seeking a Policy and Public Affairs Manager to support and coordinate the work of the Scottish Obesity Alliance.
Reporting to the Head of Obesity Action Scotland, the Policy and Public Affairs Manager will support the development and delivery of policy and public affairs activity to advance the Alliance’s priorities and influence policy that supports healthier environments across Scotland.
The role involves developing policy proposals, coordinating consultation responses and position statements, building relationships with key stakeholders, and identifying opportunities to influence policy and decision making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of policy proposals aligned with the priorities of the Scottish Obesity Alliance
- Identify opportunities to influence policy and decision making in Scotland
- Draft consultation responses, policy briefings and position statements in collaboration with Alliance members
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including policymakers, parliamentarians and partner organisations
- Support the coordination and development of the Scottish Obesity Alliance
- Monitor policy developments and support the delivery of advocacy and public affairs activity
About You
You will have experience working in policy, public affairs or advocacy and a strong understanding of the Scottish policy environment. You will be confident engaging with stakeholders and able to communicate complex policy issues clearly and effectively.
You will also demonstrate strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with a wide range of partners.
The post holder will require the following:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in relevant subject
- Demonstrating a strong understanding of public health policy, including the social and commercial determinants of health, food and nutrition.
- Experience of partnership working and effective relationship management
- Demonstrable understanding of policy making structures and processes in Scotland.
- Experience of public affairs work and engagement with politicians, Scottish Government officials and the parliamentary system (for example, writing responses to public consultations or serving on policy groups).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including track record in the facilitation of discussions and delivering presentations.

We are recruiting a Childminding Development Officer to help us expand the childminding workforce across Scotland and support the delivery of school age childcare placements with childminders.
The Scottish Childminding Association (SCMA) is the national voice of childminding in Scotland. SCMA is a national Third Sector and membership organisation that promotes childminding as a quality childcare service. Working on behalf of its 2,500 childminder members, SCMA helps to improve the wellbeing and outcomes for Scotland’s children and aims to influence policy to ensure that it is informed by the experiences of childminding. SCMA provides a wide range of support and professional services for members including training and events as well as delivering local services. The successful applicant will work to support potential new childminders by delivering a childminding recruitment model in targeted local authority areas and by setting up funded placements for school age children. You will work closely with the Childminding Liaison Officer and Area Manager and recruitment team, using SCMA’s successful childminding specific models of recruitment and placements, with the aim of increasing the number of childminders across Scotland and the number of children accessing placements with childminders.
The postholder is required to have proven ability to prioritise work and forward plan. Enthusiasm, self-motivation, good communication and excellent organisational skills are required.
Full-time 36 hrs per week, starting salary £27,278
This post is fixed term, with initial funding to March 2027
The post is home/head office based, requiring regular attendance at Head Office in Stirling, and travel on occasion to local authority areas across Scotland as required.
