The current Director of Live Music Now Scotland (LMNS) was appointed at the date of its founding in 1984 and has led LMN’s activities in Scotland ever since. In March 2025, she will step back from that position and the Board is now looking to appoint a Chief Executive.

The Chief Executive, reporting to the Chair and Board of Trustees, will provide strategic leadership and operational management to deliver the overall vision of LMNS.

As a member of the senior management team, the Assistant Director (Programmes and Participation) is instrumental in leading Together’s strategic initiatives across a broad spectrum of programme development, with a significant focus on enhancing the rights and participation of babies, toddlers, and early years children. This role is pivotal in supporting the Director by managing essential areas of operational and strategic responsibility, facilitating the effective implementation of Together’s strategic priorities, and ensuring programmes are impactful and aligned with organisational goals.

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Overseeing the development of Together’s programmes, leading innovative initiatives and supporting Together's Director as a spokesperson on key children’s rights matters.
• Developing and managing fundraising strategies, building and maintaining strong relationships with funders and stakeholders, and overseeing the financial management of all programmes and participation budgets.
• Enhancing children’s participation initiatives and implementing participatory practices across all programme activities.
• Management and mentoring of the Programmes and Participation team, encouraging a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.

Throughout the role, the post-holder will be expected to involve Together’s membership – including children and young people – whenever possible and appropriate.

Dundee Science Centre (DSC), an award-winning visitor attraction and educational charity, has been promoting hands-on learning and showcasing the wonders of science since 2000. Our mission is to inspire curiosity and engagement in STEM across Tayside, Fife, and beyond. With 40 dedicated staff members and an annual income of £1.5 million, DSC engages an audience of 250,000 through in-Centre visits, community programs, festivals, and online initiatives.

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead DSC into its next phase of development. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of science, a commercial mindset, and the ability to inspire and guide a high-performing team. As CEO, you will set the pace, tone, and culture of the organisation, ensuring sustainable growth and an exceptional visitor experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the Board to develop and implement the 3-year Business Strategy and Annual Operating Plan. Build a strong working relationship with the Chair and ensure robust governance.
• Operational Management: Lead the Executive Team to deliver the Annual Operating Plan, oversee business activities, and drive income growth. Manage customer experience, facilities, exhibitions, IT, Health & Safety, visitor services, staffing, and finance.
• STEM Engagement: Promote STEM engagement through effective marketing, fundraising, and partnerships. Represent DSC at external events and build relationships with key stakeholders.
• Financial and HR Oversight: Ensure financial stability, conduct annual audits, and maintain current HR policies and procedures. Foster a motivated and cohesive team environment.

The ideal candidate will have proven leadership in running commercial operations and delivering national-level projects. They will possess experience in the visitor attraction sector or in building successful commercial ventures. Strong governance and Company Secretary experience are essential, along with a broad understanding of science and STEM engagement. Financial management and budget responsibility are critical, as is hands-on HR experience and conflict resolution skills. The candidate should demonstrate excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management abilities. Finally, the ability to make informed decisions, inspire confidence, and work effectively under pressure is paramount.
