Role

Festivals Edinburgh is the high-level organisation created and driven by the directors of Edinburgh’s 11 major international festivals, to take the lead on their joint strategic development and work to maintain and develop Edinburgh’s position as a world leading sustainable festival city.

The Community Connections Coordinator is a specialist role focused on building connections between the Edinburgh Festivals around their engagement with local community groups and creative sector talent. The role will support the festivals to increase the range of individuals and communities they engage with as audience members, participants and workforce, focusing on those from under-served areas and backgrounds. It will do this through facilitating cross-festival knowledge sharing, supporting community and third sector collaborations, developing local creative sector connections and undertaking research, evaluation, reporting and fundraising.

The role has been supported by Scottish Government as a legacy of the five-year Platforms for Creative Excellence (PlaCE) partnership between the Edinburgh Festivals, City of Edinburgh Council and Scottish Government; building on the learning, insights and data generated though the programme.

We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic professional who combines a natural flair for collaboration with highly developed organisational and communication skills. You will have a minimum of three years’ experience in cultural project management and/or managing community engagement programmes – or demonstrable equivalent capability – and a good knowledge of the culture and community sectors in Edinburgh and Lothians.
