Are you passionate about high quality childcare and making a real difference to children and families in Scotland? Do you want to be part of SCMA – a thriving membership organisation, advocating on behalf of childminders and delivering services across Scotland?

We are recruiting a part time Childminding Development Officer (CDO) to support the delivery of our new Family Childminding Partnership service, funded by the Whole Family Wellbeing Fund, and meeting the principles of The Promise. This service aims to provide support by offering childminder placements to vulnerable families, with a particular focus on one-year olds and their siblings. This will be delivered across a number of targeted local authority areas.

The Scottish Childminding Association (SCMA) is the national voice of childminding in Scotland. SCMA is a national Third Sector and membership organisation that promotes childminding as a quality childcare service. Working on behalf of its 2,600 childminder members, SCMA helps to improve the wellbeing and outcomes for Scotland’s children and aims to influence policy to ensure that it is informed by the experiences of childminding. SCMA provides a wide range of support and professional services for members including training and events as well as delivering local services. For more information visit childminding.org

The successful applicant will work to support and set up targeted funded placements for children with childminders. Line managed by the Area Manager East, and building on SCMA’s successful community childminding model, as well as providing learning for the future ELC expansion to one-year olds.

You will have experience of working with families and an awareness of current support available; working collaboratively with key agencies including Early Years; an understanding of childminding and the role of childminders, as well as their training and support needs.

Excellent organisational and inter-personal skills are required and working as part of a team is essential. You should be able to demonstrate enthusiasm, self-motivation, and highly developed written and oral communication skills.

Part-time 18 hrs per week, Salary £25,465 - £27,940 (pro rata) and we operate a contributory pension scheme which you will be auto-enrolled into (subject to the conditions of the scheme).

Initial funding is until March 2024, however this is part of a 3-year proposal with funding confirmation received on an annual basis. The post is home based and may require occasional travel to our Head Office in Stirling as well as central belt and wider if required.

Equipment and broadband/IT connections will be provided.
