Home-Start Perth and Kinross is seeking an inspiring and values-led Chief Executive to lead our charity into its next chapter.
For over 40 years, we have supported families across Perth and Kinross through compassionate, practical and non-judgemental support. Working alongside trained volunteers and skilled staff, we help parents with young children build confidence, resilience and stronger family relationships — because childhood can’t wait.
We are now looking for an experienced and collaborative leader who can provide strategic direction, strengthen our organisation and build on our reputation as a trusted community partner.
Based in Perth, this is an exciting opportunity to lead a respected local charity that makes a genuine difference to families with children under five. You will work closely with our Board of Trustees, staff team, volunteers, partners and funders to ensure Home-Start Perth and Kinross continues to deliver safe, high-quality and family-centred support across the region.
About the role
As Chief Executive, you will provide both strategic and operational leadership across the organisation. You will guide the charity through a period of positive development and improvement, helping to strengthen systems, support the team, enhance partnerships and secure long-term sustainability.
You will:
- Provide inspirational leadership to staff and volunteers
- Work closely with the Board of Trustees to deliver strategy and strong governance
- Ensure excellent safeguarding and high-quality support for families
- Build strong relationships with funders, partners and stakeholders
- Oversee finance, fundraising, operations and organisational performance
- Champion the charity across Perth and Kinross and within the wider Home-Start network
This role requires a leader who combines strategic thinking with warmth, emotional intelligence and a hands-on approach.
About you
We are looking for someone who brings:
- Senior leadership or management experience within the charity, public, community, family support, health, education or social care sectors
- Experience of leading teams through change and improvement
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, governance and accountability
- Financial and organisational management experience
- The ability to build trusted relationships with funders, partners and stakeholders
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- A collaborative, calm and values-driven leadership style
- A genuine commitment to supporting children, parents and families
Experience in family support, volunteer-led services or the Scottish voluntary sector would be an advantage.

About the Role
The CEO is responsible for implementing our strategic plan, which enables support to over 400 families a year through 1:1 and group work support. You will manage a team of staff and work collaboratively with partners to ensure families in Edinburgh get the right support at the right time. You will also work alongside Home-Start Edinburgh’s trustees to ensure the organisation is well governed, and participate in the Home-Start network both within Scotland and the UK.

- Lead a supportive yet purposeful team of staff and volunteers, which enables them to perform at their best
- Develop relationships within the sector to enable Home-Start to be part of an ecosystem of support for families
- Ensure the charity is operationally well managed
- Work with the Board of Directors to support strategic governance
- Collaborate with Home-Start network, following systems and processes to ensure Home-Start Edinburgh performs at its best

Regional Family Support Coordinator – Edinburgh & Lothians

An exciting opportunity has become available to join Families Outside as our Regional Family Support Coordinator. If you are passionate about making a difference for families impacted by imprisonment and working to tackle and reduce stigma, we want to hear from you. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Regional Family Support Coordinator (RFSC) to support and promote the work of Families Outside in Edinburgh & the Lothians.
Role Summary:
• Hours: 28 hours per week
• Contract: 2-year fixed term contract (renewal subject to funding)
• Starting salary: Families Outside Scale Points 29-34 and updated annually subject to appraisal and where funds allow. Starting salary £29,467 pro rata (0.8FTE)
• Probation period: A probationary period of 6 months will apply.
• Location: Based in Edinburgh, with some work in the Lothians

The Role:
At Families Outside, we're the only national charity in Scotland working solely to support families affected by imprisonment.
Joining the East of Scotland regional team, within our national Family Support Team, the Regional Family Support Coordinator will support people living in the Edinburgh and Lothians area who have a family member in prison. They will:
• Support families at home and in their community via 1:1, family, and/or peer support
• Work closely with key professionals including prison staff and prison visitors centre staff to provide advice, information, and guidance on a range of issues
• Raise awareness with key professionals within the local community about the impact of imprisonment and our work to improve outcomes for families
• Work closely with HMP Edinburgh, contributing to meetings and events that support the rights of children and families affected by imprisonment
About You:
We are looking for an individual who is:
• Experienced in working with, and alongside families in a creative and flexible way
• Rights-focused in their work and all they do
• Trauma-informed and is willing to understand the impact of imprisonment upon families
• Skilled and knowledgeable in working with people to overcome challenges they face in their day-to-day life
• A confident and effective contributor to working in partnership with others to meet families’ needs.

About Aberlour Sycamore Children’s Houses
Aberlour Sycamore Services’ vision is to provide warm, loving homes for children where everyone learns, laughs, grows into their future and is treasured always. At any one time, the residential houses within Sycamore require additional support to help to maintain stability and balance within the teams. Sycamore services are widely recognised in Scotland for providing a range of quality therapeutic residential houses for some of the most vulnerable children and young people in the country. The Service is a national resource and as such receives referrals from throughout Scotland.
What we are looking for....
We are looking for individuals who can integrate seamlessly into our existing team, working alongside it and relief adults to support excellent service delivery. We are looking for a Residential Worker to work 18.75 hours per week to work within our home in Glenrothes. You will work as part of a residential rota including early, late, sleepovers and weekend shifts. You will have a knowledge and understanding of the importance of attachment, trauma and how this can impact on an individual’s development. At times our children express their distress through their behaviour and the role can be emotionally and physically challenging; we are therefore looking for someone who is resilient, understands that behaviour is a means of communication and is trauma responsive.
You will be skilled in building therapeutic relationships with the children, young people and young adults to enable them to feel safe, loved and cared for.
You must have the ability to quickly build your relationships with the adults within the house. The nature of the role is such that you could be working to cover a shift or longer periods as required, including days and wakened nightshifts and you may also be supporting young people to attend school or participate in other learning programmes. You must therefore be able to quickly adapt to the working environment within each house.
You will be comfortable with working within Aberlour’s culture embracing respect, integrity, innovation and the ability to challenge. Demonstration of these qualities will be particularly important in this role given that you will be dipping in and out of the different teams. You must be able to be an exceptional role model for other staff and the young person.
Undertaking the role of Residential Worker will afford you the opportunity to develop and build on a range of transferrable skills which are valued in a range of employment. You will be able to demonstrate excellent flexibility and adaptability with exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to work with different teams and different children, young people and young adults living within our Sycamore Houses.
