Who Cares? Scotland is Scotland’s only national independent membership organisation for Care Experienced people. Our mission is to secure a lifetime of equality, respect, and love for Care Experienced people in Scotland.

At the heart of Who Cares? Scotland’s work are the rights of Care Experienced people, and the power of their voices to bring about positive change. We provide individual lifelong relationship-based independent advocacy and a broad range of imaginative participatory and engagement opportunities for Care Experienced people across Scotland. We work alongside Corporate Parents and communities to broaden understanding and create change. We work with policy makers, leaders, and elected representatives locally and nationally to shape law, policy and practice, working together to build on the aspirations of The Promise and secure positive change.

As Evidence & Impact Officer, you will help the organisation to evaluate its activities, demonstrate the impact they make, and continually learn from our work. You will contribute within the team to ensure we have the strong evidence and funding base needed to increase the reach of the organisation and work towards achieving our vision for Care Experienced people. Organising and leading consultative meetings, you will help to gather evidence on Advocacy & Participation Worker’s (APWs) experiences of the children’s hearings system (CHS). This will include co-facilitating the Advocacy Community of Practice around CHS. Your role will also see you assist in responding to requests for data and evidence drawn from our bespoke database and help to write evidence and impact reports for a range of audiences.

Coordinating with our team to provide accessible training for staff, alongside supporting the collating and analysing of data to underpin our policy priorities, you will work collaboratively to carry out goals for data reclassification and cleaning. As Evidence & Impact Officer, your position will afford the opportunity to learn how to share impact data accessibly, whilst working in a team improving and expanding the organisations’ digital skills and systems.

We offer flexible working, and the role will involve communication and contact with Care Experienced people and colleagues across Who Cares? Scotland, including dedicated volunteers. The right candidate for the role will therefore be committed to upholding Human and Children’s rights and believe that people can make transformative change happen in their lives if given the opportunity. You will be keen to develop your practice, take advantage of training opportunities and show commitment to building on your existing love for data.

As an individual with experience of data analysis, as well as with Microsoft Office systems, CRMs/databases and programmes such as Canva, you possess a strong attention to detail and tend towards number crunching. Able to work collaboratively, with young people and teams, you may also have helped to facilitate focus groups in the past. With demonstrable knowledge of social science research, you are a clear communicator with the desire to gain experience in a third sector organisation.

While we would welcome the knowledge gathered through relevant qualifications, such as a recent degree in Psychology or a social science, we are just as interested in relevant work experience. We welcome and encourage applications from those with experience of care.
