About our Service:

The Bridge Community Project story began in 2014 when a small group of people reflected on their own life struggles and decided to make a difference to the everyday wellbeing of people across West Lothian.

Overseen by a Board of Trustees, the foundations of the Charity are based on the aims of providing financial and emotional wellbeing to the local community. In our story, however, we seek to be different - not so much in what we do, but in how we go about providing our services.

Building on the principles of compassion and love, a decade on, we continue to seek to share the journey with our clients to see lasting hope and change. Our vision is to “improve the everyday wellbeing of the people of West Lothian.” We aim to do this by “providing practical and relational support to families and individuals.”

The SSTW mental health worker will support the development of our stepping stones to wellbeing service, facilitate wellbeing groups and courses and conduct initial consultations with potential participants. Using your expertise in a mental health support role or coordination, you will ensure participants have an effective integration into our services.

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the following:

Main responsibilities

  • To support the review, planning and delivery of our existing suite of groups and courses.
  • Assess, monitor and optimise participant motivation and engagement
  • To work with participants to support their wellbeing and group satisfaction
  • To take direction from the service lead and other department leads, as well as the CEO as required, assisting with additional tasks when required to support the broader goals of the organisation.
  • To undertake initial consultation participant assessments
  • To support the marketing of all groups and liaise with the Wellbeing Administrator on all administrative duties
  • Partner with the wider community to promote our services including collaborative opportunities
  • To support volunteers within the service and seek to create new volunteer opportunities

Stepping Stones To Wellbeing Development

  • To coordinate the creation of a drop in space that will be available on a regular basis to our current and past group/course participants. The focus will be on providing on-going opportunities to connect with others and explore mental wellbeing related topics together.
  • To input to a provision of four Emotional lifejacket Courses across the year.

General

  • Work within the ethos and culture of the Bridge Community Project
  • Work within the boundaries of confidentiality as stipulated within the Bridge Community Project policy.
  • Required to observe all Health & Safety regulations and report all safety/hazards to Bridge Community Projects management group
  • To undertake appropriate training and continuing professional development opportunities
  • Attend regular meetings appropriate to the role

Candidate Profile

Essential

  • Will be a qualified counsellor or about to complete their training.
  • Member of a national body such as COSCA/ BACP
  • Must have a current, clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Excellent administration skills to manage records, coordinate schedules and oversee administrative processes with accuracy and efficiency
  • Experience of running a groups or courses

Due to the nature of this position this role is on site

Desirable

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mental health and well-being, with a proven ability to facilitate, inspire, and coordinate. They will demonstrate excellent communication skills and show a proactive approach to building a positive and engaging environment.
  • Additionally, the candidate will have a deep commitment to the values and mission of The Bridge Community Project, embodying its ethos in their daily work.
