Purpose of role: The Volunteering Officer will work with the Chief Executive and the wider team to encourage and support volunteering at Green Hive, coordinating, administering and developing the current volunteer pool (numbering nearly 200 people), and leading on the recruitment, induction and deployment of new volunteers for different roles across the organisation - including at Seaman’s Hall, the Community Workshop and in support of our events, outdoor activities, fundraising and marketing.

Context:Launched in 2015, Green Hive (formally Nairn River Enterprise) is a charity specialising in volunteer-led projects and other initiatives, helping to conserve, restore and sustainably develop the natural habitats and public amenities of Nairn and Nairnshire, cultivating community action, skills and employability and improving outcomes for residents and visitors. Over the last decade the organisation has developed a suite of core business operations aimed at reducing pollution and waste, recycling and re-using discarded man-made materials and promoting more positive interactions with the local environment. It has done this while gradually consolidating its own financial position in support of longer-term organisational sustainability. Recent investment from the Postcode Innovation Trust takes us to the next level, and a dedicated Volunteering Officer will be key to our plans for growth and diversification. In November 2022 Green Hive took ownership of Seaman’s Hall in the Fishertown precinct of Nairn. Over the last 18 months we have been developing public programmes that focus on re-establishing this important historic building as a community hub. We are also formulating capital development plans for the facility. The Volunteering Officer will support these and help to drive these activities, contributing meaningfully to the implementation and continuing evolution of our five-year strategic development plan.

Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Community Development Officer (Engagement) to help us build a diverse and inclusive network of groups dedicated to climate and biodiversity action. In this role, you’ll reach out to new and varied audiences, inspiring them to prioritise climate action and supporting existing FCCAN members to enhance their impact.

You’ll work through established networks and collaborate with key stakeholders in Fife to connect, inspire, and empower community groups in ways that suit their unique needs.

As a key liaison between FCCAN’s members, partners, and stakeholders, you’ll also support the initiation and development of climate action projects through events, talks, and workshops. Working closely with our team of Community Development Officers and the Communications and PR Officer, you’ll ensure that resources, funding, and training opportunities are effectively shared across the network.

Glencassels Community Development Project (GCDP) is a well-established project located in the housing scheme of Craigneuk, near to Wishaw. This small Neighbourhood Centre, known locally as ‘The Venny’, presently provides a range of recreational, social and educational programmes for children, young people and adults and a Community Café for all ages. We believe that it has the potential to make an even greater contribution to this community and as part of fulfilling this vision we seek a suitably qualified and experienced Childrens Worker. Funding for this post is presently in place for 18 Months, with continued funding anticipated.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced worker to manage and develop after school and early evening clubs for children aged 5-10 years. The Venny has a long tradition of running children’s clubs, in this community. The person appointed will be line managed and have the support of the Project Leader. They will have a small team of Sessional staff plus volunteers. It is anticipated that this 18 hours per week post will be worked over 3 days.

The Childrens Worker will work with the Board, The Project Leader and in collaboration with the local community in providing high quality programmes for children in this community. This will be delivered primarily through clubs in the Venny but with scope and flexibility to develop outdoor children’s activities, seasonal activities, outings and trips.

We’re looking for a passionate and skilled PR & Communications Officer to help drive the Fife Climate Hub’s mission forward. In this role, you’ll work closely with the Hub Manager to shape and execute our communication and PR strategy. You’ll manage our website and social media channels, craft compelling content, and engage with the public and media. Additionally, you’ll organise events and foster collaboration with stakeholders and partner organisations.
