Role

The Scottish Child Law Centre has been providing free expert legal advice on children’s rights and child law across Scotland for 37 years.

As a research intern for the Scottish Child Law Centre, your role is to promote and further the rights of children and young people in Scotland, by conducting research into the Child Maintenance Service.

Specifically, you will prepare a research paper on barriers and themes that resident parents face when claiming child maintenance including but not limited to: contact, parental rights and responsibilities, self-employment, domestic abuse/safeguarding, escalating claims, going to tribunal and children’s rights.

The goal of the research paper is to further the Centre’s understanding of the Child Maintenance Service for us to help children and families who are navigating this service.

We particularly welcome applications from candidates of a Black, Asian or Ethnic Minority background, and from those applicants who would not be in a position to undertake an unpaid internship.
