Scotland’s leading theatre company for actors and theatre makers with a learning disability and autism is seeking new Trustees to join our Board on a part-time, voluntary basis.

Since its inception in 1984, Lung Ha Theatre Company has worked with over 400 actors, created over 50 original productions, and worked with many leading artists and organisations from across Scotland’s creative industries. We produce award-winning productions and work with a year-round, large ensemble to develop their practice and remove barriers to participation in the arts.

This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to get involved with Lung Ha during our 40th anniversary year as a Member of the Board of Trustees. We are an inclusive organisation and we seek applications from those with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. We are particularly interested in hearing from people who have skills and experience in: finance, research, learning disabilities, environmental adaptation (particularly climate justice) and fundraising. We are also interested in hearing from those who have historically been marginalised from board representation.

This is a voluntary position; however, reasonable expenses can be agreed in advance. Reasonable expenses might include travel, childcare costs or access costs. If you are unsure about what constitutes a reasonable expense, please ask.

Please note that there will also be a requirement to complete a Disclosure Scotland check, with at minimum a Basic Disclosure being required.

Time commitment

– 4 or 5 meetings per year in Edinburgh (or online). Regular meetings are 1-2 hours in length. There is usually 1 full day meeting a year with staff and board. Breaks are included.

– An additional 3-4 meetings per year if part of one of our subcommittees (presently EDI, Environmental, Fundraising and Staffing & Governance).

– Papers will be sent approx. seven days in advance to give trustees the chance to review. Papers include the meeting agenda, minutes from the previous meeting, financial reports and occasional policy documents. Prep time must be factored in to read these papers ahead of the board meeting.

– Some email conversations between meetings if an important area needs actioned (recruitment, funding news, etc).

– An occasional phone call where specific advice is needed in relation to an area in which the trustee has specialist experience/knowledge.

– Trustees are invited to see the work of the company where feasible. While optional for trustees, this is strongly encouraged.

The Wyllieum (George Wyllie Foundation 2019) is looking for Trustees to join our Board.

The Wyllieum, based in Ocean Terminal, Greenock, is a charity focussed on displaying the artworks of Scottish artist George Wyllie MBE alongside significant delivery around education and outreach, and community engagement. We are here to celebrate the life and legacy of this pioneering Scottish artist and to contribute to the culture and socio-economics of Inverclyde.

The Wyllieum will play a vital role in bringing communities together through exhibitions, events, workshops, and other creative programmes.

We are looking for a further five Trustees with a passionate interest in art and arts education and all it can deliver; and drive for fostering lifelong creativity in the local community. Our aim is to help move to help move the charity forwards at an exciting time in its evolution.

We are very keen to ensure we have a wide range of trustees and give our wonderful communities a voice representing diversity and work with their opinions, experiences and ideas.

Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) is the National Development Body for Scotland’s museums and galleries sector – this includes 440 museums and galleries of all sizes and organisational types. MGS is recruiting an Executive Assistant to play a key role in supporting effective corporate governance. This post provides essential administrative, organisational, and strategic support to the Board, CEO and Executive team, with responsibility for ensuring appropriate corporate governance controls and systems are in place. A manager-level position, the Executive Assistant plays an important role in information flow between the Executive and wider team and liaises with stakeholders and partners, including the Scottish Government.

You will have significant administrative experience working with a senior manager or chief executive and providing comprehensive support to a Board or large committee, with strong minute taking skills. With knowledge of corporate governance and company and charity law practices, you will be an experienced, resourceful professional with strong organisational and communication skills and an adaptable style and approach. The successful candidate will manifest MGS’s core values: collaboration, integrity, passion for museums, and courageousness.

This is a part time role, 21 hours a week. Our preference would be for these hours to be worked across 4-5 days however we are open to discussion with the successful candidate.

Impact Arts is a leading Scottish creative social enterprise and registered charity. As such we are governed by our Board that comprises up to 13 Trustees. All Trustees including our Chair (Jim Sweeney MBE), are volunteers and from a range of backgrounds. As a result they bring a wealth of experience and skills to the role. In order to take the organisation forward, the Trustees wish to appoint the following:

Trustee Specification

Our Trustees will uphold and represent our purpose, vision, values and mission in a personal and professional capacity and will come from a range of backgrounds and relevant experience. Our current Board includes Trustees with a range of experiences including youth work, equalities, employability, mental health, social enterprise, placemaking, finance, HR and our youth Trustee with experience of Impact Arts’ projects.

We have a Board skills matrix which helps to identify the mix of experience and knowledge on our Board and also highlights what gaps exist and what priorities we should have for future recruitment.

We are keen to ensure that our Board is representative of those we aim to support through our delivery and as such we particularly welcome applications from people with diverse lived experienceto bring diversity of voice to our Board – being Black, Asian, Mixed Ethnic and/ or a person of colour, LGBTQI, living with a disability, care experience.
