People with vision loss are at higher risk of unemployment, isolation, mental health problems, and financial challenges. It can have an enormous emotional toll. For 230 years, Sight Scotland and Sight Scotland Veterans have been supporting people impacted by vision loss. We believe we play an important role in continually shifting the conversation around sight loss, and contributing to achieving a fair, equitable society. Over the years, we’ve seen a positive shift in expectations, with individuals and communities increasingly empowered to live lives the way they choose, free of discrimination.

Our Activity Centre’s provide innovative and person-centred services and support to veterans struggling with sight loss. This job exists in order to provide tailored support to veterans carrying out woodworking projects. You will work alongside the veterans to identify abilities, share ideas and plan projects within the activity Centre. You will ensure that the support provided is person-centred, tailored to their needs and is the right support for them. You will support the leadership team to coordinate and manage the activities provided within and from the Activity Centre which will support the overall wellbeing of the veterans and their families. You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation and external stakeholders to ensure that veterans can access the relevant support.

We have an exciting opportunity for someone who is highly organised, has an eye for detail, and an ability to implement change to join Cornerstone as a Records Management Officer on a 2 year fixed term contract.

This role can be based out of our any of our main offices in Glasgow, Dundee, or Aberdeen or part of our hybrid working model. If opting for hybrid, we would need you to live within a reasonable commute of one of these offices. Some travel within Scotland will be required.

The Role

Here at Cornerstone, we are one Scotland’s Largest Charities with over 40 years providing support and care for adults and children across Scotland with varying support needs.

The purpose of this role will be to develop and implement systems and procedures to systematically control the lifecycle of our records with an emphasis on any records containing personally identifiable information.

You will be responsible for the development and implementation of the systems and processes that focus on, the security, storage, disposal or preservation of Cornerstone records. This includes effective systems for the filing and maintenance of both paper and electronic records.

Working closely with the Data Protection Officer and other stake holders, you will develop and deploy policies, procedures and best practices to ensure Cornerstone remains compliant with our data protection policy and relevant legislation.

About You

• Previous experience of developing a records storage plan along with carrying out classification of existing records.
• Have a talent for problem solving and a passion for implementing change.
• Be organised with clear communication working in collaboration with other departments.
• The ability to take initiative, analyse issues effectively and identify solutions
• The ability to produce high-quality, accurate work to strict and tight deadlines
• A strong commitment to professionalism and quality, combined with a practical ‘can do’ approach

Your role, as a Team Leader within our Supported Employment programmes across Aberdeenshire will be to work with a caseload of clients as well as to support the team to provide high quality services through monthly caseload reviews and leading by example. Working closely with the Performance Manager, the Employability Team Leader will ensure commitment to the delivery model, helping to drive performance by supporting the client journey through mentoring and coaching of Employment Coordinators.

You will work closely with local partners, including employers, funders and other stakeholders, developing professional relationships that will offer a diverse range of experiences and opportunities.

We are a registered charity working with the community to provide wheelchairs and powered equipment for people with mobility difficulties.

This enables easier access to the main shopping areas in Dunfermline, Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy.

The board normally meet on a quarterly basis, currently online (Teams).

Knowledge of the voluntary sector is desirable.
