Business Support Team Leader

As head of the Business Support Team, you will lead a highly motivated team to ensure delivery of an efficient and directed support to both the leadership team and the operational teams. In addition, you will work closely with the Chief Executive to ensure compliance with code of governance and support the overall business direction of the organisation.

Strategic Objectives

  • To design, manage and monitor systems which enable the organisation to meet the needs of the people we support and our staff.
  • To implement, manage and monitor personnel systems including providing statistics and reports to the CEO and Board of Trustees to enhance the practices within the organisation.
  • To provide leadership and management which enables the Business Support Team to deliver and continually improve administrative, financial and corporate governance services to Fair Deals operational departments.
  • To contribute to the development of new service initiatives by providing administrative support and systems that are accessible to Fair Deal staff.
  • To represent Fair Deal in contractual negotiations
  • To assist the Chief Executive to ensure compliance with the Code of Governance and to meet regulatory requirements.
  • To ensure all personnel responsibilities are fulfilled in line with employment law and to ensure effective line with the payroll provider.
  • To provide a PA function to the Chief Executive.

Detailed Responsibilities

Leadership

  1. Provide leadership, support, and line management to a team of 3 to 4 business support staff.
  2. Provide advice and direct support to the operational staff and managers when required.
  3. Maintain and monitor high standards of professional administrative practice within Fair Deal and undertake quality monitoring and quality improvement processes.
  4. Ensure effective liaison with internal departments and external partner agencies (including finance, HR, IT)
  5. Contribute to the ongoing development of policy, practice and operational procedures to ensure best practice and highly personalised service delivery.
  6. Liaise with the finance, HR administrators and insurers and other relevant agencies on matters relating to the safeguarding of the organisation.
  7. Work in partnership with the payroll provider.

Development

  1. Liaise with external agencies including social work in relation to funding, commissioning, contracting and service design.
  2. Actively liaise with Fair Deal Team Leaders to ascertain requirements and, where appropriate, design and develop outcome-based reporting and recording systems to meet these needs.
  3. Contribute to the development of personalised support services.
  4. Develop administrative systems that enable the organisation to record outcomes of people we support.
  5. Undertake a lead role in contractual negotiations and arrangements including in relation to IT, communications, software, and HR issues.
  6. Ensure effective liaison with other sections within Fair Deal in relation to all administrative functions.
  7. Contribute to strategic planning.

General

  1. Work closely with the CEO and operational team to maintain locality specific information resources to ensure that people who wish to use Fair Deals services can access accurate information.
  2. Work alongside staff and people we support to ensure that Fair Deals activities and services are appropriate and benefit the people who use them.
  3. Represent Fair Deal at community events, conferences, seminars, and other forums.
  4. Other duties within the main areas of responsibility as required by the Chief Executive.

The main responsibilities are listed above, however, this list is not exhaustive, and the employee would be expected to perform any other duties that may reasonably be required in line with your main duties.

Essential Skills

  • Experience of financial monitoring and control
  • Experience of managing budgets effectively
  • Educated to Higher level or equivalent including English.
  • Good working knowledge of all main software packages (MS Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to delegate effectively.
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to motivate others.
  • Commitment to the ethos and values of Fair Deal

Desirable Skills

  • Up to date knowledge of regulatory requirements (OSCR, Companies House, Care Inspectorate etc)
  • Experience of managing staff, including experience in recruitment and staff development
  • Willingness to work out of hours on occasion to meet organisational needs.

Team Leader

Fair Deal is a social care organisation based in Glasgow who is recruiting a Team Leader to work in the Glasgow area. We are passionate about providing the people we support with the opportunity to live as independently as possible with greater choice and control.

The Team Leader role will manage and develop highly individualised support services, providing positive leadership and line management to ensure the delivery of high quality support by staff in line with individual needs, agreed outcomes, aspirations and individual budgets. The role will maintain direct contact and involvement with the people we support and will involve the management of staff resources and budgets.

The Role

You will require the following Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum SVQ 3 in Social Services and Healthcare

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Social Care environment

• SSSC Registration

• Experience in supporting and developing relationships with clients and families

• Experience in liaising with social work departments and community organisations

• Line Management Experience in a Social Care Environment (desirable)

• A recognised management qualification (desirable)

• Excellent leadership and organisational skills with an ability to delegate effectively

• Excellent Microsoft knowledge

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to motivate both individuals and a team

• Commitment to the ethos and values of Fair Deal

• Knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting care organisations

• Willingness to occasionally work out with office hours to meet organisational needs

• Full Driving licence and access to own car for business purposes (desirable)

Duties:

• To oversee the day to day running of the designated services

• To manage, supervise and support onsite staff

• To lead on service provision and service development

• To manage learning and development of staff

• To maintain effective communication within the team and with all relevant stakeholders

You will be required to provide on call cover at evenings and weekends.

The Board of Directors for Fair Deal is made up of ordinary people interested in our work. They are voted on to the Board by the members at the Annual General Meeting normally held in September each year

The Board are responsible for:

  • The direction and control of the organisation
  • Ensuring it receives appropriate information and advice to carry out its duties
  • The risk and legal responsibilities arising from its control
  • Ensuring that the objectives are in line with the Memorandum and Articles of Association
  • Regularly reviewing Fair Deal‘s objectives
  • Ensuring there is a mechanism for regular performance reviews
  • Ensuring there is a balance of skills and experience on the Board and make use of co-options
  • Ensuring people using Fair Deal‘s services are supported to contribute to policy and practice

The Board operates within a governance framework to ensure the highest standards are adhered to at all times.

We are currently looking to recruit new board members. We would particularly welcome applications from individuals with a background in HR, advocacy, finance or in the third sector.

We are seeking someone who can:

  • contribute actively to the Board and regularly attend meetings (Board meetings are held quarterly)
  • be involved in setting the direction of the organisation and monitoring performance
  • use their specific knowledge or experience to help the Board reach sound decisions on future service delivery
  • work effectively as a member of a team
  • Be able to take part in sub-groups within specific areas of work

Board meetings are held quarterly normally on Tuesday afternoons. This is a volunteer role, and a full induction will be given to successful applicants.

Senior Robust Services Practitioner

Reporting to: Operational Team Leader

Jordan is in his early twenties and looking for a Senior Practitioner to lead his staff team and help with the transition from living with family to living in his own home. People who know Jordan well describe him as intelligent, likeable, affectionate, and happy.

Jordan is very inquisitive and focussed and a keen problem solver. The mischievous side of his nature means that some of his problem solving will keep you on your toes! Jordan is very energetic, and you will need to be fast to keep up with him. Jordan’s memory is excellent, and he is really observant; He is always watching and learning. Being active and mentally stimulated is important for Jordan and it is essential that his days are as predictable as they can be and have structure and routine.

Jordan’s current team is quite small as he is currently supported a few days a week. Now that he is moving into his own home, he needs a bigger team along with a senior practitioner to assist him to recruit the right people and provide 24-hour support. Jordan lives with a learning disability, autism, and pica and he needs staff who will be confident in supporting him to manage the impact these have on his life.

Jordan is looking for support to move into his own home and adapt to having staff with him 24 hours a day. Jordan is very close to his family and may find this change quite difficult to adapt to at first. His goals are to feel and be safe at home and out in the community, to pursue his interests and develop new ones, and to stay well.

Jordan is looking for a Senior Practitioner who is

  • Able to lead and work 2:1 as part of a large team
  • Is confident, adaptable and a fast thinker
  • can be innovative and creative in leading his team along with him, to source and engage in meaningful activities
  • can apply a consistent approach and provide routine, structure, and predictability to his life
  • maintain relationships with his family
  • can keep him mentally stimulated and not become bored
  • is prepared to learn
