Start Up Stirling has been helping those in hardship in the Stirling Council Area since 1994.
We need a part time Warehouse Assistant to work alongside our Facilities manager to process the food donations that we receive, identifying stock shortages as they arrive and helping our volunteer teams to ensure our packs are ready for all those we support.
Responsible to: Facilities Manager
Overall responsibility of the job: To lead a team of volunteers to ensure that all our hubs are stocked with the supplies needed; to coordinate effective stock control in the warehouse and arrange timely transportation of collections and deliveries, while meeting legislative standards - i.e. Health & Safety/Environmental Health.
Specific responsibilities:
• Support the Facilities Manager by providing reports on stock levels and requirements and any concerns about the day-to-day operation
• Ensure that all warehousing processes and procedures are followed
• Take responsibility for the building, its contents, and security of the warehouse
• Work with Foodbank Co-ordinator to prepare food packs for our foodbank and rural clients
• Manage the loading and unloading of the van, deliver and pick up supplies and manage a rota of volunteer drivers
• Coordinate and support the volunteer team at the warehouse
• Coordinate the day-to-day running of the warehouse including sorting, packing, stock rotation, monitoring stock requirements, issuing stock, maintaining accurate records, and disposal of unsuitable items
• Assist with Health and Safety, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and good practice
• Monitor stock levels and liaise with the Manager about specific shortages and requirement and take responsibility for the ordering and purchase of stock
• Ensure that all warehouse paperwork is stored securely and passed on regularly to the admin volunteer/team for entering onto the data collection system
Person Specification
Experience
• Previous warehouse experience an advantage
• Observing relevant regulations, including manual handling and health and safety
• Working as part of a team
Key Skills:
• Good oral communication
• Driver with clean licence
• Ability to work independently and unsupervised
• Ability to carry out manual work
• Numerate and comfortable interpreting statistical data
• Empathy and ability to work with people from disadvantaged, marginalised, or socially excluded backgrounds
