Role

About Home-Start UK

Home-Start UK is the leading family charity with trained volunteers and expert support helping families with young children in communities across the UK. We are an umbrella organisation of circa 55 staff that works closely with our network of 184 local Home-Starts – all independent, registered charities.

We recognise that being a parent has never been easy. Every Home-Start volunteer is trained to work alongside parents to overcome the challenges they are facing. We work with parents to build on their strengths and give them the support that they tell us they need. We offer no judgement – just compassionate, confidential help and expert support. This peer-to-peer support is key to the difference Home-Start makes and often our volunteers have lived experience of the challenges their families are facing themselves.

About The Role

We are seeking a colleague who will bring their passion, understanding and leadership in the provision of support for babies, children and their families and who will join us in our commitment to Keep The Promise.

You’ll be familiar with the challenges faced by the workforce, understand approaches to practice development/change and have the knowledge and insight of how best to support those who support others. You’ll bring a good understanding of the children and family support landscape and policy in Scotland, including The Promise, impact of UNCRC incorporation and Getting it Right for Every Child, and be passionate about supporting a dedicated workforce. You’ll also be organised, flexible and bring experience of leading programmes of work with impact.

The role presents a significant opportunity for the successful candidate and for Home-Start to achieve our ambitions for children and their families, to influence real change and to ensure that all families have access to the support they need in their community, when they need it.

Childhood can’t wait. Especially in the most challenge of times, we must never lose focus on our babies and children, their health and wellbeing, the vital importance of relationships and the strength of family around them. Being alongside more families through pregnancy and those important early years can make all the difference. Using our power and place, we must also challenge inequalities and value the experience and voice of families and all our children.
