ENABLE Scotland is a dynamic and vibrant organisation dedicated to improving the lives of people with learning disabilities and we are looking for a Practice Development Facilitator (Nursing) to join us in ensuring they have the same opportunities as everyone else.

Practice development (PD) is the development and innovation in care settings so that people we support, carers and teams engage with each other in a person-centered way. Developing knowledge, skills and practice to change culture and organisation of care. It is helped through systemic and continuous processes of development and evaluation.

The Practice Development Facilitator - Nursing (PDF-N) will be first a level Registered Learning Disability Nurse and the primary job purpose is to support and work closely with the Practice Development Nurse and Practice Development Leads to provide high quality PD support to operational teams across ENABLE Scotland. The post holder will take responsibility for the facilitative management of workshops and training designed in line with personal outcomes, support needs and organisational priorities. The PDF-N will support and encourage good practice and skills through PD across the organisation to enhance the quality of support we provide.

This role includes:

  • Developing and delivering workshops for local support teams and responding appropriately to specific learning needs.
  • Engaging with individuals and teams to build on person centred approaches for the people we support.
  • Embedding required processes to facilitate achievement of outcomes and best practice.
  • Adhering to relevant policies, procedures, standards and frameworks of care for people with learning disabilities.
  • Providing assistance with the assessment of need and development of care plans utilising a person-centred approach inclusive of risk assessment, which promotes & improves the health and wellbeing of children, young people and adults who have a learning disability.
  • Supporting the Practice Development Lead Nursing with the review and implementation of bespoke development plans and risk assessments to promote and improve the health and wellbeing of the people we support.
  • Supporting the development of clinical governance pathways and contribute to the development and evaluation requirements of health related workstreams and policies
  • Supporting the learning needs of teams. To recognise need for and provide coaching and mentoring to teams to help achieve outcomes for people we support.

About You

Successful candidates must:

  • Be qualified as first level Registered Nurse Learning Disability RNLD with a current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council NMC.
  • Have experience and knowledge of application of a Positive Behaviour Support framework PBS to meet the needs of people who have a learning disability.
  • Have experience of identifying unmet needs in people who have a learning disability, what is required to support these and how to review and achieve the required care plan outcomes.
  • Have experience of supporting positive health and quality of life outcomes for people who have a learning disability and complex needs.
  • Have experience of assessing, planning, delivering and reviewing person-centred care.
  • Have a sound knowledge of person centred, outcomes focused approaches in delivery of care
  • Have knowledge of up-to-date strategy and reports in relation to people who have a learning disability.
  • Understand national legislation and policy
  • Have experience of presenting information to groups of people
