The Chartered Institute of Fundraising is the professional membership body for UK fundraising. They champion their member’s excellence in fundraising and ensure that all fundraisers can connect, share, and learn together. The Institute supports fundraisers through professional development and education. They connect fundraisers across all sectors and skill sets to share and learn with each other so that together they can best serve their causes and communities both now and in the future.

As the professional membership body for UK fundraising, The Institute wants to see excellent fundraising in order to cultivate a better world for everybody.

The organisation supports fundraising by promoting excellence through all areas in the professional development and education of fundraisers, in providing a framework for continuous improvement, and enabling fundraising organisations to conduct their work in the best possible way.

The Policy and Communications Officer will work with the Institute’s members to understand the priorities of fundraisers and fundraising so they can champion their views in public policy work. The role will contribute to research to understand issues that affect charitable fundraising and help get a better understanding of trends in charity fundraising practice. You will also help charities achieve excellent standards in their fundraising practice as well as working with regulators and other charity sector bodies. Through communications you will ensure that members, charities and other stakeholders hear about The Institutes work, build relationships with stakeholders and contribute to press and parliamentary work. Day to day you may be doing research calls, creating writing pieces and informing partners of new information.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have experience of working in a policy or communications role however you may also come from a research, journalism, membership or fundraising background. You will have excellent written skills and be able communicate effectively. It would be beneficial to have existing knowledge of the third sector however this is not essential as the role is open to transferable skills. You will be confident in communicating with a wide range of people in a variety of situations. We are looking for someone who has experience in writing high quality pieces of written documents such as communication content, research briefings, or policy guidance.
