Role

SFHA is the membership body for, and collective voice of, housing associations and co-operatives in Scotland. We exist to represent, support and connect our members.

Housing associations and co-operatives provide safe, warm, affordable homes for life to over half a million people in Scotland, who come from all kinds of backgrounds. Our members work with partners and tenants to create thriving communities which help people to live well and fulfil their potential. They do this by building the best homes for affordable rent in Scotland, maintaining them to an excellent standard, contributing to their local communities and supporting their tenants when they need it.

We want to do all we can to help our members succeed in their vital work. That’s why we are investing in our public affairs team, so we can create an accurate understanding of housing associations and co-operatives among politicians, policymakers and the public. In this newly-designed role, you will help us tell our members’ stories to MSPs, MPs and their staff. You’ll create engagement strategies to assist our members in developing strong local relationships with politicians, work with our expert policy team to deliver positive changes to legislation and government policy, and, alongside our skilled communications team, drive political awareness and understanding of housing associations.

You’ll be an experienced public affairs practitioner with demonstrable achievements in legislative or policy change, a solid understanding of the Scottish political environment and excellent political relationships.

This is a fantastic opportunity to create real change in an area of public policy that directly affects people in Scotland. We’re looking forward to seeing your application.
