About the role

As the Volunteering Strategic Delivery Manager, you will develop, promote and deliver the volunteering strategy working closely with a team of volunteer coordinators, across a range of Programmes, delivering active travel in Scotland.

You will work collaboratively with heads of functions and managers across our Programmes in Scotland, to ensure the delivery of the volunteering strategy at a corporate level, helping to maintain consistent standards across Sustrans in Scotland.

We work in diverse communities across the nation, a key element of this role will be ensuring our volunteers are representative of the communities we work in.

In this role, you will develop improvements in volunteering to increase the impact of Sustrans’ volunteering activities, in particular meeting Sustrans’ Paths for Everyone and Liveable Cities and Towns outcomes.

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans. Candidates should be based within Scotland with travel expected to a nominated hub/office base in Edinburgh or Glasgow.

About you

You should have relevant experience of leading, motivating and managing a team. In this role you will lead a team of 6, directly line managing 2 coordinators.

You will previously have developed and delivered a volunteer strategy in a complex organisation; with a demonstrable track record in managing volunteers, you should be able to describe how you would implement and deliver, an inclusive approach to increasing volunteer numbers.

You will be a skilled communicator, building relationships easily, allowing you to work effectively and cross-organisationally to meet your goals.
