The Senior Support Worker (SSW) will support the management team in developing and maintaining the organisation’s standards relating to autism specific and person centred practices. The Senior Support Worker will assist in the supervision and direction of the staff team and in maintaining the high standards of support in line with the organisation’s quality standards and mission statement. Knowledge of current legislation and regulations relating to the social care sector and the requirements of the Care Inspectorate is essential for this role. The post holder will also be expected to commit to on-call duties.

Given the nature of this role, successful applicants must register with the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme and Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) or equivalent regulatory body.

This role can be based in any of our main offices (Aberdeen, Dundee or Glasgow), or part of our hybrid working model. If opting for hybrid, we would need you to live within a reasonable commute of Aberdeen, Dundee or Glasgow. There will be occasions that we'll need you to travel to other Cornerstone branch locations (travel expenses would be reimbursed as set out in Cornerstone’s expense policy with travel reimbursed by HMRC legislation).

The Role

Cornerstone is one of Scotland's largest charities with over 40 years' experience providing great care and support for adults and children with various support needs across Scotland.

Reporting to our Head of Finance, you’ll be responsible for the delivery of a comprehensive payroll and pensions service, ensuring timely payments, legal compliance, and excellent customer service.

You’ll also ensure that all policies, processes and procedures relating to payroll and employment tax are reviewed and maintained regularly in line with legislative or best practice changes.

Working with the payroll team and with the wider finance and HR team, you’ll be a subject matter expert in all aspects of pensions, employment and benefits tax, National Insurance, and other associated taxes.

About You

What we'll need you to bring: -

• Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline
• Recognised chartered institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP/IPPM equivalent)
• A minimum of 3 years’ post qualification payroll experience
• Attention to detail, delivering accurate, reliable and timely outputs
• The ability to implement quality processes and procedures and communicate these clearly verbally and in writing
• Comfortable learning new systems, developing and implementing new procedures and proposing solutions for problems with systems
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and organise work to tight deadlines
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships and communication with team members
