Who we are?

KCASS part of Adoption UK, aims to improve outcomes for Kinship Care families, delivering a service that offers advice to families, supports children and young people living in kinship care, supports kinship carers with events and training, provides direction and leadership to organisations that support kinship families and raises awareness and celebrates the difference kinship families are making through Kinship Care Week.

What you’ll be doing

Working 16 hours a week you will work alongside the KCASS team providing valuable information, advice and support to Kinship carers via telephone, social media, case management and external consultants. You will also be responsible with providing the team with administration support.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence the development and delivery of coordinated and needs-led services to support Kinship, you will be joining a committed and motivated team that will reward and challenge you to develop your skills and experience further.

You will

• Provide support to families through the national Kinship Care Advice Service Scotland helpline

• Provide informed welfare specific advice and information to families, colleagues, and external consultants.

• Develop and create resources for kinship families including inputting to Kinship newsletters, website articles and factsheets.

• Support with administrative duties

Who you are

Having a strong depth of knowledge on issues and challenges affecting kinship carers, their children and families, you will,

• Be able to meet the criteria in this candidate pack

• Experienced in admin support

• Have demonstrable knowledge of the legislation surrounding childcare practice, kinship care and permanence, including welfare advice

• Have experience in helpline support or similar

• Ideally you will have lived experience of parenting care experienced children or have lived or professional experience

What we offer

This contract is permanent, working 16 hours per week and attracts a salary of £23,529 per annum (pro-rata).

The office is based in Edinburgh, and there is the opportunity for hybrid working arrangements.
