What we need

This is a newly created role in Pet Blood Bank UK; our ideal candidate will understand the critical importance of HR in driving organisational success and sustainability. You will possess a proven track record in developing and implementing HR strategies aligned with objectives and demonstrate strong analytical skills.

We’re looking for someone who has:

• Proven track record in HR strategy development and implementation, ideally within the non-profit sector.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior management and across departments.
• Previous experience in fostering positive employee relations, conflict resolution, and conducting employee engagement surveys.
• Strong analytical abilities to review HR policies, assess metrics, and provide actionable insights.
• Comprehensive understanding of performance management, training, compliance, and benefits administration.
• Experience overseeing the full recruitment lifecycle to support attraction and retention.

The Scottish Ornithologists’ Club (SOC) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Art Exhibitions Coordinator to manage our year-round programme of exhibitions at Waterston House, our headquarters and visitor centre in beautiful Aberlady.

Since opening in 2005, our gallery has built a stellar reputation for showcasing top wildlife art, attracting nearly 10,000 visitors annually. We’re looking for someone to build on this success by managing our exhibitions, handling art sales, promoting our artists, and ensuring the gallery continues to inspire and engage visitors.

About the Role:

As the Art Exhibitions Coordinator, you will:

- Curate and deliver a vibrant programme of exhibitions, from planning to execution.

- Work with artists, both established and emerging, to showcase their work.

- Manage the promotion of exhibitions across various platforms (press, social media, website, email newsletters).

- Coordinate art sales and liaise with artists to handle stock, payments, and our online art shop.

- Be a welcoming presence for visitors and support other team members in running the gallery and shop.

What We're Looking For:

Essential:

- Experience working in an art gallery, managing exhibitions.

- Strong organisational and communication skills to handle multiple tasks and timelines.

- A customer-focused mindset with great relationship-building skills.

- IT proficiency (Microsoft Office, including Excel) and the ability to work with a small team.

- A flexible, self-motivated team player who’s comfortable working some evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

Desirable:

- A background in sales/marketing.

- Knowledge of wildlife or natural history art.

- Experience with online marketing (Mailchimp) and design software.

- An interest in birds or wildlife would be a bonus!

Role Summary

To provide professional, friendly, and efficient reception services to Norton Park tenants, their clients, and visitors. This role also includes supporting the management and staff of Norton Park SCIO with administrative tasks and managing conference centre bookings.

Key Responsibilities

Reception Duties

• Answer incoming calls professionally and assist with tenant and external inquiries.
• Greet visitors and follow tenant-specific procedures for visitor management.
• Issue visitor and staff passes; maintain accurate records.
• Update staff records and manage security access systems regularly.
• Serve as an information point for visitors.
• Keep the reception calendar up to date and manage the reception noticeboard weekly.
• Ensure the reception area is presentable at all times.
• Manage the signing-in book during fire drills and emergency evacuations.

Administrative Duties

• Sort and distribute incoming for tenants.
• Prepare and distribute circulars and memos as needed.
• Support the Norton Park SCIO management team with various administrative tasks.
• Oversee and manage daily bookings for the conference centre and meeting rooms.
• Assist with booking enquiries from tenants and external organisations
• Maintain computer files and tenant lists accurately.

Communications and Marketing

• Assist with posting content on social media platforms and engaging with followers.
• Help update the website with news, events, and other relevant content.
• Support drafting and sending internal and external communications, including newsletters and emails.
• Assist with promotion events and activities through various channels.
• Assist in creating and organising marketing materials.

General Responsibilities

• Opening & closing facilities when required.
• Provide coverage for holidays/sick leave

Terms and Conditions

Place of Work: Norton Park Business Centre, 57 Albion Road, Edinburgh, EH7 5QY

Hours of Work: 14 hours per week: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm on Thursdays and 9:00 am – 4:00 pm on Fridays (including a 1-hour unpaid lunch break).

Salary: £24,000 pro rata

Pension: Norton Park SCIO run a contributory pension scheme, which staff are encouraged to join. Employer contribution 7% and employee contribution 5%.

Annual leave: Pro rata entitlement of 25 days of annual leave plus 10 public holidays each year. Note: Annual leave must be used during the Christmas and New Year break.

Volunteering leave: Pro rata entitlement of 2 paid days of leave per year for approved volunteering activities.
