We’re looking for an experienced leader with a track record of campaigning, influencing and change-making. Working with elected student leaders, students’ associations and activists you’ll drive the national student movement in Scotland.
Campaigns Director Responsibilities:
This is a role overseeing NUS Scotland’s campaigning, press, communications and policy. You’ll be working closely with the Scottish Government and with Scottish authorities and civil servants. NUS Scotland works across a wide range of issues and our priorities are set by students via our democracy. You’ll be working on further and higher education matters for sure as well as student welfare issues like housing, healthcare, and mental wellbeing. You’ll also be working on social policy issues including climate change and liberation for women, black students, LGBT+ students, trans students and disabled students.
Campaigns Director Requirements:
You’ll have the skill to build a modern mass-engagement movement of students supported by a far-reaching digital strategy and a ground force of organized student activists. You’ll also shape the political agenda itself, identifying key issues and generating transformational solutions that sit at the heart of our campaigning. You’ll be someone able to influence at a personal level as well as at societal level.
Location:
This role is based primarily at our office in Edinburgh. We’ll also consider applicants wishing to work on a hybrid basis between Edinburgh and their home.
About NUS:
NUS is a confederation of over 440 students’ unions representing just under 4m students and apprentices across Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales. In Scotland, there are over 40 students’ associations representing 460,000 students.
The student movement is fast-paced and sometimes challenging, but we’re also a big family who support each other.
We see anti-oppression as central to our mission. Education isn’t working unless it’s working for everyone in our society. We’re trans inclusive without exception. And we welcome individuals who are up for taking active responsibility for their own ongoing learning on liberation, equity, diversity and inclusion.
