About the role
A new and exciting opportunity to work as a Senior Communications Officer with Sustrans as part of the Scotland Policy and Communications team to promote and raise awareness of Scotland's National Cycling Network and other key routes.
As the Senior Communications Officer, you will be responsible for building and managing internal and external relationships with key people such as Visit Scotland and Local Authority Partners. In addition, you will be developing and implementing Communication Strategies for various projects. As part of the Policy and Communications Team, you will support internal communications and support the Community Engagement teams, producing engaging content.
In addition, the Senior Communications Officer is responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of content for the Policy and Communications Team to the public, media, policymakers, and influencers and creating and adapting content for press releases, social media, and digital platforms. Also, gather data and compile reports on digital engagement post-project to report/ demonstrate success.
Responsibility for line managing the Network Engagement Officer to support their professional development also sits within the remit of this role, so experience in line and task managing interns or staff members is key. In addition, we will look for you to have a motivational approach to developing their skills and abilities while ensuring critical outcomes.
We offer hybrid working with some travel to locations around Scotland expected.

About you
An experienced communications professional, you will have extensive experience working in communications, PR, Marketing (or similar) environment. In addition to organising and running events, you must be able to write engaging content for publications, press releases and websites and deliver these to tight deadlines.
Ideally, you'll be experienced and interested in using social media professionally, including delivering social media-focused campaigns. In addition, you must be experienced in organising and running events and experienced in working with creative colleagues and external agencies and applying brand and style guidelines.
Skills and Abilities
With the proven ability to write relevant, engaging content for print and digital channels for diverse audiences, excellent inter-personnel skills and the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others in a team, you must be confident in making decisions when appropriate and necessary.
The role requires you to be organised and efficient, with practical time management skills and the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously to plan, prioritise and deliver to tight deadlines, and be confident in or have the desire to line and task manage interns or staff members. In addition, your oral and written communication skills should be exemplary, allowing you to interact easily at all levels and build strong and effective relationships.
You should bring with you a good understanding of the communications environment, including the broader media landscape, including the use of social media in a professional context, branding, digital and marketing also excellent IT literacy, including confidence in using digital Content Management Systems and Adobe Creative Cloud package (Premier Pro, Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator,
