GWT secured funding from the National Lottery Community Fund for an exciting new project that aims to embed intergenerational practice across Scotland, England, and Northern Ireland. Starting January 2023, we are working in partnership with Apples and Honey Nightingale in London and Linking Generations Northern Ireland to deliver training, promote new quality standards, and recognise Intergenerational Hubs in communities across the UK.

Overview of Post

This role will focus on promoting the work of the new project by shaping its communications and marketing strategy, building new connections, and growing its digital presence. Based with GWT, you will work collaboratively with the wider project team, and especially the Intergenerational Development Officers, in Scotland, England, and Northern Ireland. The successful applicant will have a crucial role in shaping and supporting the delivery of this new, high-profile project supported by the National Lottery Community Fund.

Responsible to: GWT Chief Executive Officer

Responsible for:

1. Supporting the project team in the creation of a new communications and marketing strategy for the project.

2. Supporting the project team and Development Officers in Scotland, Northern Ireland and England to build connections and form new partnerships.

3. Building and growing the digital presence of the project and partners.

4. Collating evidence and providing administrative and logistical support.

Importantly, we connect individuals and organisations who work across different generations building trust and respect which creates long-lasting friendships. Together through intergenerational work the different generations can share their skills and learn new ones identifying solutions on how to address local problems and challenges in their communities.

Overview of Post

The successful candidate will play a key role in the administration function of GWT and will be responsible for developing, devising and maintaining our systems in relation to both administration and human resource management. The role involves liaising with relevant external organisations, collation of evaluation data and providing support to the staff team and board members.

GWT has secured funding from the National Lottery Community Fund for an exciting new project that aims to embed intergenerational practice across Scotland, England, and Northern Ireland. From January 2023, we will work in partnership with Apples and Honey Nightingale in London and Linking Generations Northern Ireland, with Development Officers in each country working collaboratively to deliver training, promote new quality standards, and recognise Intergenerational Hubs in communities across the UK.

This role will focus on building partnerships, delivering intergenerational training, creating, and piloting a set of new quality standards, and supporting the recognition of new Intergenerational hubs across three areas of Scotland (areas being considered include Shetland/Orkney, Ayrshire, and Lothians however this could change).

Funding Specialist (Revenue & projects)

This is an exciting opportunity to work with an organisation at the forefront of intergenerational practice; a diverse and rapidly growing field, of critical importance to both society and the economy. This role is vital to the continuing success of GWT and will involve working with stakeholders in academia, social care and across the political spectrum.

The postholder will help to grow and support the charity by identifying future revenue opportunities from a variety of sources including grants, trusts, foundations and corporate.

Responsibilities

  • Researching, designing, writing and submitting detailed funding applications to support our services.
  • Securing additional income from a variety of corporate bodies including sponsorship.
  • Maintaining and strengthening relationships with existing and potential funders.
  • Contributing to the implementation of organisational and delivery projects, within the context of GWT’s Corporate Plan.

GWT provides a range of training opportunities, a yearly programme of meetings, thematic events, excellence awards an international conference. Our programme of work involves facilitating 18 local networks across Scotland, four thematic networks (Ageism, Housing, Places and Spaces, Care Homes & Research), pilot projects and active partnerships in academic research. Next year our global intergenerational week campaign will involve a total of 13 countries. GWT lead the campaign in partnership with country leads from Wales, England & Northern Ireland.

The charity has a strong track record in developing intergenerational work across Scotland, we have built trusting partnerships with international experts from across the globe and have recently secured multi year funding which will be announced shortly. Policy Officer

The main purpose of this post is to help GWT achieve our vision, mission and corporate aims, creating more opportunities for people of all ages to build intergenerational relationships.

Key tasks will include influencing the policy and practices of key decision makers and stakeholders, developing impactful responses to consultations and compiling research and practice evidence, all of which will support the development of intergenerational work across Scotland.

Our Ideal Candidate

You will be educated to degree level in a relevant subject or have equivalent experience and have worked in a similar role. You will be able to identify, monitor and evaluate policy issues, formulate policy responses and compile evidence to support policy positions and initiatives. You will have excellent writing skills and be able to communicate and build relationships in a compelling way with a wide range of people - demonstrating strong personal credibility. You will have proven experience working with local and national government and a strong understanding of the equalities and human rights agenda.
