What is the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Finance Officer. As a member of the Finance and Estates Team and reporting directly to the Head of Finance & Estates, you will provide financial management information to the Finance and Estates Manager for use at Board and Management meetings and delivery a high quality and effective customer service.

You will create and manage financial forecasting models and procedures and contribute to the financial and estates strategy and plans, in line with VSS overall strategy. You will ensure that all accounting activity complies with regulations. You will work closely with members of the Corporate Leadership Team and will support business planning. We would consider hybrid working for this post.

What you’ll need to be successful

We are looking for someone who will take ownership of, and ensure delivery of all accounting and financial activities, including (but not limited to) monthly management accounts, cashflow forecasts, annual accounts and budget forecasts, prior involvement in year-end processes, project costings and budgetary management, maintaining the fixed asset register and monitoring all VSS financial practices, ensuring a robust financial framework is in place and auditing requirements are met. To contribute to business planning and modelling, performing the appropriate analysis to support understanding of multiple aspects of business performance across a number of business platforms, excellent communication skills, highly motivated, can work using own initiative and as part of a wider team.

Salary: £31,890- £42,109. Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to review - in line with VSS progression arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.

About the role

The Legal Policy Manager will play a key role in empowering the children’s sector to use the law to drive systemic change and ensure children experience their rights in practice.

This exciting new role will be central to delivery of an innovative joint project between Clan Childlaw and Together (Scottish Alliance for Children’s Rights), funded by the Human Rights Fund.

Clan Childlaw is a leader in child-centred strategic litigation that drives systemic change, while Together represents over 600 organisations working to promote and protect children’s rights in Scotland.

The post holder will support strategic legal interventions, including the use of the UNCRC, to drive change for children and young people in Scotland.

The project aims to empower and enable Scotland’s children’s sector to use the law to advance children’s rights. These legal interventions may include strategic litigation, and seeking legal opinions, as well as wider measures such as supporting Together members to challenge rights breaches through informal processes etc.

Responsibilities include managing Clan’s Strategic Litigation Group, helping Together members identify opportunities for legal intervention, identifying strategic cases for Clan, and developing resources to promote the implementation and advance of children’s rights.

Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow

You can choose the location that works best for you. We operate hybrid working with the opportunity to work from home some of the time. The role will also require travel between our office locations on a regular basis and throughout Scotland as required.

Revenue Scotland is looking for two Members to join its Board. The Board is currently made up of a Board of seven non-executive directors one Chairperson and six Board Members who oversee the work of Revenue Scotland. We also currently have just under 100 staff and a senior leadership team of four, led by our Chief Executive.

Since 2015, Revenue Scotland has been responsible for collecting almost £7 billion from two devolved taxes, Land and Buildings Transaction Tax and Scottish Landfill Tax.

Our Corporate Plan 2024-27 sets out our aspirations for the future and strategic objectives. Over the next three years we will be preparing to introduce two new devolved taxes: Scottish Aggregates Tax and Scottish Building Safety Levy. Responsibilities

REMUNERATION AND TIME COMMITMENT

These positions are remunerated at £303.52 per day (reviewed annually) for every 7.5 hours devoted to performing your functions (as required or requested by the Board) up to a maximum total fee of £10,926.72 per financial year.

Remuneration is non-pensionable and reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

Members are expected to work up to 36 days per year to perform their functions as and when required.
