Iriss is a charity that works with people, workers and organisations in social work and social care support to make positive change happen.

About the role

The Administrator provides administrative support to the National Adult Support and Protection Coordinator (Brenda Walker).

Key Activities

  • Diary management and support.
  • Taking clear minutes/ notes of meetings.
  • Venue, room and call booking.
  • Any other administrative tasks as required.

Who we are looking for

This role would suit someone with the following qualities and experience:

  • Organisation: you are organised, task focussed and can work autonomously, prioritising as required.
  • Writing: you write clearly and accurately.
  • Effective: you are detail orientated and enjoy using your time efficiently for maximum impact.
  • Support: you have experience of providing support to senior staff.
  • Diplomacy: you communicate effectively and courteously with others both verbally and in writing.
  • Digital: you are confident and skilled in standard office software for scheduling, communication and filing. (G- suite, MS Office etc.)
  • Video conferencing: you are confident and skilled in using standard video conferencing software (MS Teams, Zoom, Google Meet etc.).
  • Commitment: you are committed to ensuring that everyone who comes into contact with Iriss has a positive experience.

Specific experience in the third (charity) sector is not a requirement; however experience of providing administrative support, and a drive to provide high quality work is.

A typical week in the role

In a typical week in the role, you might be doing the following:

  • Organising an online meeting on behalf of the National Adult Support and Protection Coordinator (NASPC).
  • Putting together a MailChimp newsletter to send to people interested in Adult Support and Protection.
  • Using WordPress to update the NASPC website.
  • Attending an Iriss team meeting to discuss what we’re learning from our work.
  • Working with the NASPC to finalise minutes of a Scottish Government meeting.
