UWS Students’ Union is seeking External Trustees to join its Board.
This is an opportunity to contribute to the governance and strategic direction of a student-led charity at a significant point in its development. We are building on a period of strong performance, democratic reform and high student engagement, while preparing to develop our next Strategic Plan.
Our members are students at the University of the West of Scotland, Scotland’s leading widening access university. We are therefore seeking trustees with senior-level experience and strategic insight, who are motivated by social impact, equity and improving outcomes for students.
About the role
External Trustees support the governance, oversight and long-term sustainability of the Students’ Union.
Working alongside elected student officers, student trustees and staff, you will:

Who we are looking for
We are seeking individuals with significant senior leadership experience who are comfortable operating at Board or senior decision-making level.

We welcome applications from across the voluntary, public and private sectors. Experience of charity governance is beneficial but not essential.
Above all, we are looking for individuals who understand the importance of widening access to education and are motivated by supporting a diverse student community.

The role of Director is a unique voluntary opportunity for women from diverse backgrounds who have expertise, time and are committed to making a real difference to the lives of women and children who have experienced domestic abuse.
As a member of WLWA Board, you will play a key role in shaping the strategy of WLWA and overseeing its governance to ensure it can continue to provide high quality services. You don’t need to be an expert in domestic abuse, but you do need to have an understanding of the impact it has on women and children and be committed to our vision and values.

We would particularly love to recruit Directors who have experience in Human Resources or Finance, however please don’t let this put you off applying if you don’t have experience in these areas.
We are committed to representing the diversity of our service users on our Board and welcome applications from women from under-represented groups including those from ethnic minority backgrounds and LGBTI people.
The board meets face to face in Livingston every second month. Board members are also invited to join one of our sub committees to accelerate progress on important topics such as fundraising or strategy, driving forward key actions between board meetings.
Although this fantastic volunteering opportunity is unpaid, travel expenses are available for board members to attend meetings.

You’ll play a key role in supporting colleagues across our theatres, libraries, museums and cultural venues – helping them create welcoming, thriving workplaces where creativity and community spirit flourish. No two days are the same at OnFife. You’ll be providing professional HR advice to managers and colleagues across a wide range of people related matters, from performance and attendance to employee relations and organisational change and supporting the organisational change programmes – helping colleagues navigate new ways of working with clarity, care and confidence
You’ll be based primarily at Iona House, with flexibility to work across Fife. Some evening and weekend work may be required, but they will support you with a flexible approach.
We’re looking for a confident communicator who is experienced in HR at senior level, ideally within public or similar sectors. You will be highly organised and be able to manage your own caseload, balancing priorities and offering practical, solutions focused guidance. It is essential you have a professionally qualified (CIPD or equivalent) with strong knowledge of HR best practice and employment law.

What is a Trustee?
In simple terms:Trustees are the guardians of our charity – ensuring we stay true to our mission of helping cancer patients access treatment while managing our resources responsibly and planning for sustainable growth.
The legal bit:Trustees have overall control of a charity and are responsible for making sure it's doing what it was set up to do. They exercise their powers and duties with care, always acting in the charity's best interests, ensuring compliance with charity law and our governing document.
You'll be part of a supportive boardworking collaboratively to govern The Driving Force effectively.
Time Commitment
We respect that trustees are volunteers with busy lives. Here's what we ask:

Total time: approximately 15-20 hours per year
Flexibility:We schedule meetings with trustees' availability in mind. If you can't make a meeting, we just ask for advance notice.

Braeburn Home – A Care Home for Life
We are recruiting volunteers to join our board of trustees. Braeburn Home is a small and unique care home, situated in a quiet residential area in the heart of Inverleith, Edinburgh. We are a private home providing residential, nursing and respite care to older adults.
We are a friendly, dynamic team of Trustees, looking to speak to interested parties that can be either experienced or someone seeking their first opportunity to enhance their skills in a charity board setting.
We are ideally looking for someone who has an understanding of the health and social care sector but this is not essential. Persons with skills in either finance/accounting; nursing, social work/ relevant health care, IT or HR are particularly welcome.
The minimum time commitment includes attending monthly board meetings (approx. 3 hours), but we are hopeful you will use your expertise to further support our senior management on an occasional basis, co-leading on specific projects.
