The role will oversee the effective management of legal resources and the day-to-day operation of the legal practice, ensuring the smooth delivery of Clan’s services. These include child-centred legal outreach, the Children’s Rights Helpline, lawyer-led training, Legal Support for Advocacy, and the Lawyers for Children programme.

You will provide operational leadership across legal practice management, including finance and compliance, case-flow and resource planning, project delivery, partnership and stakeholder relationships, and the monitoring and evaluation of service impact.

The Head of Legal Services will also contribute to the strategic planning and development of Clan’s services, strengthening the organisation’s role within the communities we serve and supporting Clan’s strategy to work alongside others to improve children’s access to justice and their ability to exercise their rights.

About you

Showing a genuine commitment to the mission of Clan Childlaw you will be a proactive, solutions‑focused, confident leader who shapes positive team culture through integrity, clarity, and consistency. With a solid background in legal practice management or senior operations within professional services, you will have experience of leading operational change and allocation of resources to multiple workstreams to balance demand, sustainability, and staff wellbeing. You will be someone who delegates effectively and works alongside their team, taking ownership of performance, compliance, and effectiveness to ensure the teams success.

You will have the ability to deliver on plans and reporting frameworks for legal services that strengthen accountability and demonstrate impact. You will have experience of using insight from data, financial reporting, and feedback to drive continuous improvement and inform operational and strategic decisions.

About Clan Childlaw

Clan Childlaw stands with children and young people when they stand up for their rights.

Clan is an award-winning, independent children’s charity that actively supports children and young people to take ownership of their rights.

We are the only charity in Scotland that provides free, independent legal representation exclusively for children and young people, which is child-centred by design. Because our lawyers work directly with children and young people whose lives are affected by legal decisions, we bring that unique practice-based knowledge to every aspect of our work. This includes our specialist training, our helpline supporting others who help children to use their voices and their rights, and our work to influence children’s rights respecting changes to practice, policy and law.

What We Do

We stand with others who help children use their rights – Through our membership and training for legal professionals and in legal education we are making being a “children’s lawyer” an accredited legal skill set in Scotland. Our practical training and helpline and support for advocacy in Children’s Hearings provides adults that support children and young people information and guidance that they can use to empower young people to stand up for their rights.

We stand out through the excellence of our work – We want our work to have as much impact as possible. We listen to what children and young people tell us about what they need from lawyers and others who support them to use their rights. We use what we learn to develop and design the services they need and talk about why young people’s rights matter, and why children and young people need lawyers.

We stand for change – We are lawyers for children and young people representing children and young people in court, at Children’s Hearings, and in important meetings working to give them equal opportunity to heard and use their rights. We take cases that make change for individual children and young people and help shape better rights respecting policy and practice. We use our knowledge of the law, and experience as practising lawyers for children and young people, to ask decision makers and lawmakers to change the law and the way the law is used to make sure that children and young people's rights are respected, protected and fulfilled.

Our Values

Our values are the principles we uphold in all our work, no matter what. They are the foundation of our workplace culture. Everyone who works at Clan shows our values in all they do and say.

We are supportive: We listen and respond, we provide encouragement and emotional help to children and young people, to others who support young people, and to each other.

We are bold: We are confident and courageous in amplifying the voices of children and young people. We are prepared to take risks when we need to, to defend children and young people’s rights.

We are dynamic: We are always active, always progressing. We are positive, full of energy and new ideas. We ask for change where it is needed.

What we can offer you

Clan Childlaw’s mission is very important to us, but our people are important too. We recognise the importance of a good work-life balance and a friendly supportive work environment. We offer:

  • 33 days annual leave (inclusive of public holidays) increasing to 35 after 2 years’ service
  • Auto-enrolment into our pension scheme after 3 months service
  • Offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and the option to choose the base location that works best for you.
  • Flexibility around your working day and the option to work from home some of the time.
  • Access to our employee counselling service.

Learning and development is important to us and our team. We hope it’s important to you too. You will be encouraged to engage in learning and continued professional development.

"I have never worked in such a lovely organisation before! I feel valued, seen and heard as an individual here." - A member of the Clan Childlaw team

LinkLiving

Development Worker (Link Academy)

  • LinkLiving
  • Part time
  • £29,249 – £32,093 pro-rata
  • On site: This post will be based at LinkLiving’s office in Edinburgh, however the service also runs in Falkirk and Fife. As part of this team, you may be required to deliver in all three areas, depending on the needs of the service
  • Closing 13th April 2026

Are you passionate about helping people to live a better life? Do you want to work for a charity where your health and wellbeing matter just as much as the people you support? Do you want to be part of a trauma-informed team where you will be supported to develop creative and flexible ways of working?

At LinkLiving, our values and people are at the heart of everything we do including how we recruit our staff. It is important for us to find people who share our values, which are:

  • Empathy (listen to and understand an individual’s needs and circumstances)
  • Respect (treat others the way they wish to be treated)
  • Integrity (be honest and have strong moral principles)
  • Caring (show kindness and concern for others)

LinkLiving is a Scottish health and wellbeing charity that supports people to manage or overcome the effects of negative life experiences (including trauma, mental health challenges, poverty and inequality) so that they can build on their strengths and aspirations in order to live their best possible lives. We support people through a range of models including:

  • Personal development and employability programmes
  • Self-help coaching
  • Supported accommodation
  • Care at home
  • Housing support
  • Befriending
  • Social cafes

The Link Academy team works primarily with people with complex backgrounds. The experiences of these young people often result in low self-esteem and confidence, poor mental health and a pattern of destructive behaviours. Because of this, these young people find it difficult to manage key transitions such as moving into work or training, into a tenancy or leaving care. The service works hard and creatively to maintain the early engagement of participants. By offering mental health and wellbeing programmes, independent living skills and a wide range of qualifications to support their progression, we give young people the tools to better manage their own mental health. Doing so helps them break negative and destructive cycles of behaviour and thinking, with the aim of putting them on the path to having the best life possible. Staff are trained in using a trauma-informed approach to support young people to build confidence, develop resilience and realise their goals for the future.

The Job

The ‘Right Track (Navigating Positive Futures)’’ is a preventive programme which focuses on supporting young people at risk of becoming involved in the criminal justice system, through the provision of one-to-one and group-based support. The Development Worker will have a background in criminal justice and will support young people facing issues including youth crime, antisocial behaviour, family breakdown and school-related difficulties, to achieve their goals and aspirations, providing them with practical tools and techniques to overcome the challenges they are facing. We welcome applications from people with lived experience and professional experience.

The Development Workers will also provide support to parents and caregivers, as well as leading a team of peer education volunteers (16-24) who will use their own lived experiences of the criminal justice system to positively influence young people supported through the programme.

About You

You are passionate about supporting young people to overcome challenges and achieve positive outcomes, particularly those involved in or affected by the criminal justice system. You will be educated to SCQF Level 7 (HNC or equivalent); however, we actively welcome applicants with relevant lived experience who may not hold formal qualifications, as training and qualifications will be supported within the role. In these cases, you must have demonstrable experience of working with this client group.

You will have a minimum of three years’ professional experience in youth work, including direct experience of working with young people in a criminal justice setting. You are skilled at developing, shaping, and delivering engaging programmes that respond to the current challenges facing young people, using a trauma-informed and relationship-based approach.

You are confident in building positive, trusting relationships with young people and have experience creating or identifying resources for one-to-one work and group delivery, including the effective use of digital tools and resources. You will also have experience of building and sustaining partnerships with a range of stakeholders.

You bring a good understanding of current Scottish policies and the social, economic, and systemic challenges affecting young people and families in Scotland. You are highly organised, with excellent planning skills, and are an effective communicator, confident in both oral presentations and written reporting. A good working knowledge of ICT is essential.

You are a collaborative team player with a flexible, can-do attitude, willing to work across different areas as required. Occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary to support specific training programmes or events, although this sits outside normal delivery hours.

What’s in it for you?

The benefits of being a LinkLiving employee (subject to the policies and benefit terms and conditions) include:

  • Competitive salary, reviewed annually, and opportunity for annual performance related salary increases and discretionary non-consolidated pay awards, subject to terms of the scheme
  • 35 days’ holiday per year (inclusive of public holidays) pro rata plus additional 3 days pro rata after 3 years’ service

As the Senior Engineer, you will lead the production and technical review of project and programme outputs.

You will manage typical projects and low risk programmes. Your work will make a strong contribution to the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust’s vision by delivering high impact and innovative solutions.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including designers, engineers, technicians, and other technical specialists.

Your role is to support the successful delivery of projects and programmes that align with the Trust’s strategic priorities.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Manage typical projects and low risk programmes from start to finish.
  • Lead the creation and technical review of project and programme outputs, using your recognised technical expertise.

If you're driven by creativity, responsibility and the desire to leave a positive legacy, this is a role where your skills will truly make a difference.

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for someone who has experience and understanding in the areas listed below. You don’t need to meet every requirement — if you feel you’d be a good fit, we encourage you to apply.

The work plays a key role in delivering complex projects that support WWCT’s mission to provide high quality and sustainable infrastructure.

You will work as part of a multi disciplinary team which includes designers, engineers, technicians and other specialists. Together, they deliver projects and programmes that support the Trust’s strategic priorities.

In this role, you will use your recognised technical knowledge, apply practical and creative problem solving, and produce reliable technical outputs. You will work closely with colleagues across different disciplines and contribute to solutions that help improve places for people to walk, wheel and cycle. Your contribution is important to creating sustainable and accessible transport networks.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Manage straightforward projects from start to finish through all RIBA stages.
  • Use technical expertise to produce accurate and reliable project outputs and deliverables.
  • Engage with internal colleagues, external partners, regulatory authorities and other key stakeholders during project delivery.
  • Contribute to business development activities by preparing agreed project proposals.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a creative, fast moving environment and wants to stretch their skills across a wide range of disciplines. Working at WWCT means being part of a passionate, multi skilled team where you’ll collaborate with designers, engineers and specialists to shape real, positive change in communities. It’s an opportunity to grow your technical expertise, tackle meaningful challenges, and make a visible impact on the places people walk, wheel and cycle every day.
