Cadder Housing Association is a registered social landlord based in Glasgow which owns and maintains 699 homes for affordable rent and provides factoring services to over 400 private homeowners. Established in 1993 the organisation is a community anchor for the people of Cadder. The Association owns Cadder Community Hub where we provide a range of activities for our residents.

Creating Cadder’s Spark is an ambitious four-year community wellbeing and environmental programme led by Cadder Housing Association. Funded by The National Lottery Community Action Fund, this new programme will offer a diverse range of activities that bring people together, improve health, strengthen local connections, and enhance access to nature. Activities will run across Cadder Community Hub, Cadder Woods, and within the local community, enabling residents to take part in accessible, free sessions close to home.

A central aim of the project is to increase local connection to nature by revitalising green spaces and supporting residents to feel confident and welcome outdoors.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated Creative Wellbeing Officer with experience working with communities in community development, community education and health and wellbeing to lead, design and deliver inclusive community projects that respond to the needs and aspirations of Cadder residents.

About SafeLives

We are SafeLives, the UK-wide charity dedicated to ending domestic abuse, for everyone, for good.

We work with organisations across the UK to transform the response to domestic abuse. We want what you would want for your best friend. We listen to survivors, putting their voices at the heart of our thinking. We look at the whole picture for each individual and family to get the right help at the right time to make families everywhere safe and well. And we challenge perpetrators to change, asking ‘why doesn’t he stop?’ rather than ‘why doesn’t she leave?’. This applies whatever the gender of the victim or perpetrator and whatever the nature of their relationship.

Last year alone, nearly 11,000 professionals working on the frontline received our training. Over 65,000 adults at risk of serious harm or murder and more than 85,000 children received support through dedicated multi-agency support designed by us and delivered with partners. In the last three years, over 1,000 perpetrators have been challenged and supported to change by interventions we created with partners, and that’s just the start.

Role summary

Our training programme significantly improves the ability of domestic abuse professionals and other frontline responders and organisations to identify and respond to domestic abuse and closely linked issues. We take a holistic approach, looking at the whole family and the connections between them to keep families safe sooner, and offer a whole range of training products to develop people who support them, including accredited professional training and bespoke services for public, voluntary and commercial organisations.

Our training programme across the UK aims to create:

  • user value: with learners who attend our training feeling more confident and better equipped to fulfil their role
  • social value: with measures showing professionals who attend our training provide more effective interventions for those who experience abuse
  • financial value: responsible for generating around a third of SafeLives’ annual income

We are looking for our Training Lead to oversee and develop our training offer in Scotland. Having delivered training across Scotland since 2012, we now run a wide range of training including on topics such as Understanding and Responding to Domestic Abuse, Dash risk assessment, and Marac Chairs and Reps as well as the accredited Idaa training on behalf of SafeLives.

We are a very well-respected provider of training across the country and work in partnerships to deliver much of our highest profile training, as well as with a pool of associate trainers who are experts in their field.

You will contribute to the development of training courses in response to emerging needs from specific commissioners, while actively monitoring sector developments to ensure our offerings remain relevant and impactful. You will deliver or resource our existing training courses.

You will work within the SafeLives Scotland Team to ensure that SafeLives’ training programmes meet our strategic priorities and are of the highest quality. Your remit will include course development and delivery with external partners and associate trainers. You will work closely with colleagues across SafeLives to ensure consistency and quality of our UK wide training offer.

This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the performance of professionals within the domestic abuse and related sectors at a national level as well as the response of other frontline or first responders in the public, voluntary or commercial sectors, and thus help address the risks faced by victims of domestic abuse.

Catchment Restoration Development Officer

As part of the next phase of our Rivers Project, we are recruiting for a Catchment Restoration Development Officer.

Background

Sustaining Dunbar, in partnership with Forth Rivers Trust (FRT), has secured development phase funding to prepare detailed, shovel-ready nature restoration plans for the Dry Burn and Spott Burn catchments in East Lammermuir. This project is part of a wider, long-term ambition to deliver landscape-scale nature recovery across East Lammermuir from summit to sea.

The development phase will identify and design a portfolio of restoration interventions — riparian tree planting, natural flood management measures, habitat connectivity improvements, and invasive species control — working across approximately 22 landholdings in the two catchments. The technical design work will be led by FRT. The role of this post is to make that technical work possible: by building the relationships with landowners and land managers that underpin it, and by coordinating the programme so that individual work packages fit together coherently across land boundaries.

Purpose of the Role

To coordinate this next phase of the project and act as the primary point of contact for landowners and land managers across the Dry Burn and Spott Burn catchments, building the trust and relationships necessary to develop coherent, spatially connected restoration work packages, and to coordinate these with Forth Rivers Trust so as to develop a portfolio of credible and fundable habitat enhancement and restoration projects.

Deafblind Scotland provides information & specialist knowledge in many inclusive forms of communication relied on by people with sensory loss including Braille/Moon, BSL/Tactile BSL, Deafblind Manual & Audio.

The project officer will work with the carers affected by sensory impairment within this project which is part of our Connect2Support Programme. Overall ensuring the carers affected by sensory impairment, who are amongst the most disadvantaged in society, are provided with specialist support which enables them & those they care for to access their rights and navigate the systems, services and support that can improve their lives.

It is essential that you have experience of providing support to women who have experienced trauma or crisis. A suitable qualification that meets with SSSC Housing Support registration is also required (examples would be HNC Social Services or SVQ Level 3 Social Services and Healthcare). The nature of our work requires a commitment to the feminist analysis of domestic abuse and to the values of Glasgow Women’s Aid.

  • To ensure that the needs and progress of all children are evaluated and recorded within case files and project records in accordance with MCFB’s Confidentiality and Recording Policy and other relevant policies.
  • To undertake assessments of children’s well-being at the beginning and end of interventions in order to measure the impact of the provision.
  • To maintain communication with the families of the children to promote their involvement in the project.
