The Scottish Seabird Centre
The Scottish Seabird Centre (SSC) works to ensure that Scotland’s seas and coasts are alive with wildlife, celebrated and protected by all. We act to save seabirds and restore Scotland’s marine environment through conservation, learning, and unforgettable wildlife experiences:
Conservation – We manage internationally important seabird islands, including Bass Rock, which is home to one of the largest gannet colonies in the world, and Craigleith, where our community conservation project, SOS Puffin, has quadrupled the population of breeding puffins.
Learning – We seek to build an understanding of and a passion for the marine environment. Over 60,000 children and young people have engaged with our education programme.
Experience – We operate one of the leading nature visitor centres in the UK, welcoming over 170,000 visitors a year, and were awarded the Gold Green Tourism Award in April 2025.

As the Graduate Urban Designer, you will help create technical work by using your developing specialist skills and knowledge.
You will work under close supervision and mentorship, within a personalised graduate programme which will support you as you grow your expertise. This includes structured mentoring on the path to chartership.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team including designers, engineers, technicians, and other technical specialists. There will also be opportunities for direct engagement with our partners and communities, designing place-based sustainable active travel solutions to deliver real and lasting change.

This is a great opportunity to join our successful and award-winning community food growing project in the east end of Glasgow. SCGP aims to address a wide range of poverty related issues in the local area through food growing. We have developed services and activities to improve the health and well-being of local people, improve employability through volunteering, provide positive opportunities for children and families and build the social capital of the community.
The Project Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Project and for assisting the volunteer Board in its good governance and ongoing development.
They will enable individual users and groups to learn about and practice vegetable and fruit growing, healthy eating and lifestyles and cooking and will facilitate and organise activities and events to promote these aims. The Project Co-ordinator is responsible for managing and supporting any junior staff members and any sessional worker contracts. We are seeking someone with a good knowledge and experience of food growing and an understanding of food poverty and the benefits of healthy eating. You will have had a minimum of two years’ experience and a track record of success in the development of community projects.
You will ideally have an understanding of the legal and regulatory requirements upon charitable voluntary organisations; be numerate and have experience of budgeting, staff management and of reporting to a Board.
The successful candidate will be a good organiser who is able to multi-task and prioritise competing priorities with minimal supervision. You will be creative , innovative and resourceful and committed to the aims of our project. You will be a team player with a positive attitude who is able to develop and sustain good working relationships with plot holders, volunteers, partners and funders.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the refuge accommodation is maintained to a high standard, is fit for purpose and safe.
