What we are looking for....

We are looking for a Community Support Practitioner to join our team, working 37.5 hours per week. As this post includes an unsocial hours allowance, you are required to be flexible with your approach and available to work weekends, early mornings, evenings, and public holidays to meet the needs of the families you would support.

Someone who is passionate about supporting young people, families and communities, who is flexible and shares our vision that collaborative working and relationship based early intervention is the best option for young people and families who are feeling overwhelmed or excluded.

Not afraid to test new ways of working, you will bring a fresh, caring, compassionate and collaborative approach which responds empathically to the needs of young people and their families. You will have experience of direct practice within this field of work, including child/adult protection issues as well as having experience of working with young people.

You will work within a variety of locations in the Falkirk area, including family homes, schools and community settings.

AAFDA is a growing charity, and we are looking for a specialist Children’s Advocate to be based in Scotland. Although home based, travel will be required across Scotland. We welcome applications from candidates who are registered social workers and who have professional experience of working with people who have experienced domestic abuse.

We are also committed to diversity and strongly encourage applications from those with Black and/or Minoritised backgrounds.

AAFDA was founded by Frank Mullane in memory of his sister Julia Pemberton and her son Will who were both killed by her ex-partner in 2003.

Scotland is expected to introduce Domestic Homicide and Suicide Reviews (DHSRs) in April 2026. We are looking for a candidate with a good understanding of the Scottish legislative system and good understanding around domestic abuse and how it impacts on children to join our growing charity. Each year, in Scotland, around 25 families lose a loved one to fatal domestic abuse, perhaps one third of this number being domestic homicides and the others being suicides following domestic abuse. The actual number of domestic abuse related suicides remains unknown.

Many of these families suffer significant problems including relationship breakdown, job difficulties/loss and mental and physical health issues. The Children’s advocate will provide expert advocacy, specialist peer support to children, and other services, helping them practically and emotionally. This may include helping them to contribute to DHSRs and providing opportunities to recover from harm for example via trauma therapy and other services.

Through trauma-informed approaches, you will help the children bereaved by fatal domestic abuse:

  • To enhance their voice after fatal domestic abuse including by helping them to contribute to domestic homicide and suicide reviews and formal / informal meetings with various professionals.
  • By providing residential peer support events, or access to these events for both the children and their carers.
  • Via virtual support tools and other resources.
  • By developing pathways into groupwork programmes for carers of bereaved children.
  • Cope and recover by direct support and by linking into other services, for example, specialist trauma therapy.

Role Description

The Head of Income and Engagement is responsible for diversifying and growing Dog Aid Scotland’s fundraising income streams as well as overseeing the charities strategic communications and marketing activity. Reporting directly to the CEO, the postholder will develop and deliver a comprehensive Income and Engagement Strategy that ensures sustainable income growth, deepens supporter engagement and increases awareness of this long-standing charity. As well as working at a high level, this will be a hands on, operational role which is expected to work directly with donors and lead on fundraising activity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of Income and Engagement Strategies aimed to grow income sustainably and significantly increase awareness of the charity
  • Grow income from individual giving, regular giving, fundraising events and legacy giving, whilst looking to develop further income streams such as major donors, trusts and foundations in future.
  • Develop strong donor journey that's engaging, from recruitment and stewardship to longer term donor retention.
  • Create and deliver engagement strategy focused on growing brand awareness, deepening engagement and understanding of the charity, its impact and services.

This is a part time role working as part of a small, dedicated team who aim to create happy homes for dogs across Scotland. Although it will be expected to be in the office each week, some hybrid working will be available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic finance and business leadership, responsible for all of charities accounts and financial processes
  • Financial planning and budgeting, including putting together budgets, producing forecasts and management accounts
  • Working closely with CEO on long term financial planning that aligns and enables wider charity strategy
  • Compliance, systems and controls, including oversight of Xero accounting system and ensuring compliance with charity financial regulations

About the Role

As Media and Public Affairs Manager, you will bring to life the work of Crisis’ day to day services and our national influencing agenda. Using print, digital and broadcast journalism you will advocate for the solutions needed to end homelessness and inspire and active politicians to join our campaign and take meaningful action to end homelessness in Scotland by 2040. You will oversee the development and delivery of high-profile media, communications and political influencing campaign strategies, and help to build our brand reach, engaging a wide range of new audiences across Scotland.

With homelessness at record levels there has never been a more critical time to join Crisis and ensure ending homelessness is firmly on the national news agenda and central to all political party’s goals.

About you

You will have significant experience of working in a challenging, fast-paced news, media and public affairs environment to secure high-profile coverage and political engagement. You will also have experience of leading and managing individuals or teams, motivating people to achieve objectives and overcome challenges. Having the ability to navigate competing priorities and influence senior internal and external stakeholders is essential.

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate excellent knowledge and experience of working with the Scottish media and the Scottish Parliament to secure national policy change, demonstrate the ability to secure high profile sustained media coverage to convey complex stories in an engaging and relatable way, and have exceptional news sense, with the ability to take a creative approach when seeking out new media opportunities. You will have an excellent track record in national campaign and parliamentary influence, familiar with how parliament works and competent in influencing politicians.

Job Purpose:

To provide direct assistance to the Service Manager in the day-to-day operation of our residential and respite service in Lanark.

Main Activities

  • Provide management support and direction to Team Leader and/or staff in their delivery of Care and Support to children and young people
  • Support the Service Manager, Team Leader and staff in meeting the requirements of organisational policy and procedure
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements (e.g. Care Inspectorate, SSSC)
  • Identify, quantify, and direct child/young person’s requirements as stated in their Individual placement agreement and support plan.
  • Undertake Investigations and Risk Assessments
  • Manage Budgetary and Financial Controls, including SDS, ILF.
  • Service Promotion and Development

This role may also include:

  • Prescribed duties and responsibilities of the Service Manager delegated down to the Care and Support Manager.

Requirements

You will deliver both group work and one-to-one support, enabling young people to develop personal development plans, gain accredited learning where appropriate, and overcome barriers to participation in their community.

You will also take a lead role in developing and managing youth work programmes, including evening activities, leadership opportunities and school holiday provision, ensuring services reflect the needs and interests of young people in Ferguslie Park.

In this role, you will manage and support youth work staff, sessional workers, volunteers and trainees, while working alongside the Community Development Manager to grow and expand youth provision. This will include developing partnerships, identifying funding opportunities and increasing participation with the aim of delivering a six-day-per-week youth work programme.

You will build strong relationships with local organisations and partners, promote the achievements of young people, and demonstrate the impact of youth work through monitoring, evaluation and storytelling.

This is an exciting opportunity to take a leadership role in supporting young people to thrive, contribute to their community and shape the future of youth work in Ferguslie Park.
