About Us

Lambhill Stables is a community owned charity in the North of Glasgow providing recreational, education-al, training and employment opportunities. About the role

As an experienced Bookkeeper with proven track record, you will be responsible for the day-to-day admin-istration of finance in relation to the charity and its projects.

It is essential that you are IT literate and have experience of Sage One / Xero and Microsoft Office applica-tions. As part of a small staff team, you should be a team player and able to work with minimal supervision and possess a flexible attitude regarding whatever presents itself from day to day.

Experience, knowledge and understanding of charitable bookkeeping is essential.

Office hours are usually between 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday with half hour for lunch. The work pattern of the successful applicant will be negotiated with the General Manager but must facilitate the smooth running of the charity and its financial operations.

About Us

Toonspeak, based in Glasgow, offers a range of arts opportunities to young people, with a focus on the performing arts as part of our DNA as a young people’s theatre organisation. A unique organisation, we provide young people aged 0-25 from across Glasgow with opportunities to participate in high-quality arts experiences, free of charge.

The Role

Board meetings take place four times per year, in February, May, August and November. Quarterly meetings are held in person, outside of office hours, at one of our Glasgow venues and are two hours in length. There is the option to take part remotely if Board members are unable to attend in person, however travel expenses are supported to allow in person attendance to be possible.

We are looking to recruit four new Board directors in 2026. We are actively recruiting for new Board directors with lived experience in facing barriers to access. We are particularly interested in hearing from people aged 18-25, as well as those with specific expertise in Theatre, Child Protection & Safeguarding, and Strategy & Policy Development.

Scottish FA Extra Time Project Outline

The Scottish FA seek to use the power of football to help support and strengthen its clubs and the communities they serve. As part of the ongoing partnership between the Scottish FA and the Scottish Government, the Scottish FA Extra Time Programme aims to provide after school and holiday activity clubs for primary school aged children.

The programme is available to football clubs, trusts and foundations and will look to develop an understanding of how organised activities for children, and wider engagement with local support services, can improve life outcomes, particularly for those families on low incomes.

Scottish FA Extra Time Project Principles

  • An increased accessibility to organised children’s activities for targeted families.
  • A better understanding of the role that organised children's activities can play in providing food/tackling food insecurities.
  • More parents and carers from targeted families can sustain and/or increase their working hours, and/or improve their employment circumstances, take up training, studying or facilitate respite opportunities.
  • A way to measure improved mental health and wellbeing for children, parents, and carers.
  • A better understanding of additional impacts and outcomes that are realised because of providing targeted families and communities with access to funded organised activities.
  • Engagement with parents, carers, and communities to increase community involvement and the numbers of children and families participating in grassroots clubs and organisations.

Key Responsibilities

  • To engage and build relationships with parents, carers, and communities to increase community involvement and the numbers of children and families participating in grassroots clubs and organisations.
  • To provide direct support and/or therapeutic work with children, young people and families, which may include, group work, family work, and individual work.
  • To maintain communication with families of the children and young people we are engaging with via the ASC’s and to promote their involvement in the Extra Time project.
  • To plan and deliver workshop sessions for low-income families and provide relevant support where necessary.
  • To maintain accurate and detailed records of all sessions.
  • To develop and implement evaluation tools to measure the impact of both funding and project aims versus results.
  • To develop and maintain effective communication links with local schools, Head Teachers, and SFA Southeast Region members of staff plus any other relevant parties both within and out with North Edinburgh.
  • To develop strategic partnerships and links with social sector organisations providing services to children and young people, including low-income families.
  • Support Extra Time Youth & Community Coaches to deliver afterschool sessions in line with Foundation policies and procedures.
  • To ensure SCF policies and procedures are following risk assessments and lone working policies are being followed.
  • To develop, maintain and share a working knowledge of local and national strategies for the future development of football, sport in general, education and health initiatives.

Home-Start West Lothian (HSWL) a well-recognised charity supporting families, primarily with at least one child under 5, living in West Lothian. The families we support face challenges such as the impact of poor mental health, isolation, physical health issues, multiple births, domestic abuse, navigating the complex asylum process as well as dealing with the impact of trauma . HSWL receive referrals from a variety of sources including Health Visitors, Social Work, Family Nurse Practitioners and Education. Families can also self-refer.

Whilst volunteer home-visiting remains at the core of our service, we also offer a variety of other supports including groups and more intensive family support.

HSWL are expanding their Board of Trustees and are looking to recruit new members to join their team. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for supporting parents and their young families with skillsets such as social care, employability, health and safety, fundraising and marketing.

Charity Trusteeships can be incredibly rewarding as well as supporting personal and professional development. Along with your fellow Trustees and the senior management team, you will set the long-term strategic direction of HSWL and provide advice and guidance in your specialist field where applicable. The Trustees ensure that performance is monitored and managed through internal controls and delegation and approve key strategies and policies to allow the organisation to achieve its objectives.

The Board of Trustees currently meets in person every 3 months (early evening) with subgroups meeting online between these times. Trustees will also be asked to support sub-groups as required. The initial appointment is for a 3-year term with the opportunity for reappointment.
