What you'll do

We are looking for a Community Activities Organiser for the Borders area. You will establish a range of community activities and opportunities across the locality that fill identified gaps and meet the needs of people living with dementia and their families.

Home-Start West Lothian (HSWL) a well-recognised charity supporting families, primarily with at least one child under 5, living in West Lothian. The families we support face challenges such as the impact of poor mental health, isolation, physical health issues, multiple births, domestic abuse, navigating the complex asylum process as well as dealing with the impact of trauma . HSWL receive referrals from a variety of sources including Health Visitors, Social Work, Family Nurse Practitioners and Education. Families can also self-refer.

Whilst volunteer home-visiting remains at the core of our service, we also offer a variety of other supports including groups and more intensive family support.

HSWL are expanding their Board of Trustees and are looking to recruit new members to join their team. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for supporting parents and their young families with skillsets such as social care, employability, health and safety, fundraising and marketing.

Charity Trusteeships can be incredibly rewarding as well as supporting personal and professional development. Along with your fellow Trustees and the senior management team, you will set the long-term strategic direction of HSWL and provide advice and guidance in your specialist field where applicable. The Trustees ensure that performance is monitored and managed through internal controls and delegation and approve key strategies and policies to allow the organisation to achieve its objectives.

The Board of Trustees currently meets in person every 3 months (early evening) with subgroups meeting online between these times. Trustees will also be asked to support sub-groups as required. The initial appointment is for a 3-year term with the opportunity for reappointment.

The is a voluntary position but expenses are offered.

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Midlothian Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Team. This post is funded by Midlothian Health and Social Care Partnership.

We are recruiting for the post of Development Worker – Engagement Pathways to lead and develop our pathways into services for people. This includes enquiries, initial conversations including risk assessment, baseline outcome measures, reviews and endings and line management responsibilities.

This is an opportunity requiring excellent communication and organisational skills, where the successful candidate will be required to support the journey of people through our services within the Scottish Borders and have an impact on staff development and supervision.

You will be key to maintaining quality within this area of service delivery and in representing our services within the Scottish Borders. You should have experience of working together with people experiencing mental health problems to support them to achieve their aims related to mental health and wellbeing. You should be confident in attending events, holding stalls and offering drop in support and signposting to people at the Mental Health Information Stations across the Scottish Borders. You should also have experience of developing systems and processes and sharing your learning experiences across teams.

Experience of working in Early Years, Family Support, Perinatal or Community Education settings is essential, alongside delivering training and supporting practitioner learning. Applicants must demonstrate trauma informed, strengths based practice, strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively, with experience of project delivery and reflective practice desirable.

My Support Day is currently seeking new Board Members. My Support Day is governed by a voluntary Board of Trustees, who guide and oversee our organisation. The main aim of My Support Day is to support families who are affected by someone else's substance use. My Support Day is a charity based within South Lanarkshire which supports families and loved ones who have been affected by someone else’s substance use. The support is person centred, and individuals are supported via 1:1, support group both face to face and online.

My Support Day are provision holders and distributors of Naloxone.

We are also in partnership between Liber8 to deliver the service FREE – Family Recovery Everyone Everywhere. This service is based across South Lanarkshire to access one-to-one support, group support, learning and development and events for the whole family. This service will also offer counselling, mediation and therapeutic services to Individuals using the service which can tailor their support to suit their needs.

Our Board wishes to expand its skills base and welcomes individuals with relevant financial, community, business or lived experience. We are looking to attract individuals with skills and experience ranging from social media, human resources, community learning & development, legal, finance/fundraising, marketing and, most importantly, an interest in the wellbeing of families who are affected by someone else's substance use with a passion to make family recovery visible.

The position of trustee is a voluntary position, but travel expenses and other reasonable expenses accrued when carrying out the role will be paid.

Time Commitment

We ask board member candidates for a minimum commitment of attending 1 meeting every quarter, held online or in person, with email contact on matters arising between meetings. Alongside this, additional requests may be made for support with board activities such as recruitment of staff on an occasional basis

We are seeking a full-time Family Support Development Officer to lead our Inverclyde Family Support Service.

This post will develop, deliver, support and promote a range of family support and engagement for family members aged 16+ years who are affected by someone else’s substance use. The post is supported by a Family Support Worker, and works in partnership with partner organisations, families and communities. This is a fixed term post to 31 March 2027 (potential extension subject to funding).

The post is based in Inverclyde (main base: Greenock) and has an area-wide remit involving significant travel throughout the area and some to our offices in Glasgow. It is expected that the post holder will be required to work some evenings and occasional weekends. Due to the nature of this post, access to a car is essential. This post will be part of Scottish Families’ staff team and be supervised by the Senior Family Support Development Officer.

We are seeking applicants with a degree in a relevant subject or equivalent professional qualification, and experience of direct client work, group work, and direct work with families, as well as identifying and managing risk. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of issues for families affected by substance use, values underpinning advocacy, and an understanding of the voluntary sector. The ability to encourage and promote the development of family support groups, and effectively and sensitively advocate for others, are essential, as well as strong organisational skills and interpersonal and communication skills.
