As an Energy Advisor, you will:

  • Provide tailored energy advice and advocacy to residents, helping them reduce energy consumption, manage fuel debt, and resolve disputes with utility providers.
  • Deliver support through a mix of in-person appointments, home visits for the most vulnerable, telephone consultations, and community workshops/events.
  • Work closely with local partners, to maximise engagement and ensure a coordinated approach.
  • Promote energy efficiency and signpost to relevant support schemes.
  • Monitor and evaluate project impact, maintaining accurate records and contributing to regular reporting.
  • Support individuals and households most at risk due to deprivation, low income, or other barriers such as language or health.

Key Tasks

  • To provide shared support, 1:1 and 2:1 support.
  • To work positively with any behaviours of concern.
  • To provide care and support with personal / intimate care tasks, administering medication safely, assisting a person’s mobility safely including using equipment, supporting meals, social activities, outings and attending appointments.
  • To support people to live in a rich environment, manage a tenancy and build a home.
  • To share and support members with daily cleaning tasks and maintain safe and aesthetically pleasing working/living environments
  • To support people to participate as fully as possible in tasks and activities that interest and engage them, developing skills and a sense of purpose and value
  • To act as keyworker for some people taking a lead role in ensuring outcomes, support plans and risk assessments are reviewed at least every 6 months.

The aim of the role is to support family carers to understand the illness, and provide evidenced based intervention, practical advice and emotional support at all stages, including key transition points and bereavement.

Supporting our North Lanarkshire locality, the post will be based within Motherwell working across Wishaw and Shotts.

The successful candidate will have a flexible approach and able to deal with a number of enquiries and partnerships driven from the community and external partners including Social Services and NHS. You’ll be a fantastic communicator who is listens effectively to our service users and provides clear, concise and detailed advice to a varied audience.

Skills in using digital platforms are essential as we use a blended approach to support people that involve some virtual meetings and on-line groups.

Applicants must have a full and valid driving license and vehicle to be able to travel for this role.

Applicants must hold a recognised relevant professional qualification, have a good understanding of dementia and how it affects people and their families along with excellent communication skills, a warm flexible approach, combined with skills in empathy and relationship building.

In addition, you should have skills and knowledge at the Enhanced Level of the Promoting Excellence Framework or be able to evidence you are working towards its completion.

There will be an element of evening and weekend working.
