Role
ARC Scotland is seeking a Qualified Freelance Assessor and Internal Verifier to support delivery and quality assurance across health and social care qualifications.
We are looking for a professional with:
- Recognised Assessor and Internal Verifier qualifications.
- Strong occupational background across health and social care.
- Registerable qualifications and experience to deliver the Integrated Health and Social Care award at SCQF level 7, and Social Services and Healthcare awards at SCQF levels 6, 7 and 9.
- Experience delivering and/or verifying SVQs or work-based qualifications in a freelance capacity.
- Up-to-date knowledge of sector standards, compliance, and best practice.

Role purpose
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) provides strategic and operational leadership across Deaf Action, ensuring the organisation delivers high-quality, integrated services in line with its mission, values, and business plan.
Working closely with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team, the COO will be responsible for translating strategy into effective operational delivery, driving organisational performance, commercial growth, and long-term sustainability. The COO provides leadership across service delivery, operational systems, performance management, and organisational development, ensuring Deaf Action operates efficiently, effectively, and in alignment with its strategic objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across Deaf Action, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and sustainable service delivery.
- Contribute to the growth and development of Deaf Action’s commercial services, helping to maximise income and long-term sustainability.
- Work closely with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team to translate organisational strategy into effective operational plans and outcomes.
- Lead and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Person specification
Essential:
- Proven experience in a senior operational leadership role, leading complex, multi-service or multi-department organisations.
- Demonstrable success in commercial income generation, organisational growth or change management.
- Strong strategic planning, operational management, and decision-making capability.
- Experience developing and managing high-performing teams.
- Experience implementing performance management systems and reporting frameworks.
- Strong understanding of core organisational functions, including operations, finance, HR, and service delivery.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable:

Deafblind Scotland is the specialist charity working with deafblind people or those at risk of developing a second or dual sensory loss. Our ambitions are high for people with sensory loss, particularly those who are deafblind and we are therefore at the cutting edge of finding ways to support them to lead their most meaningful lives. The project operates in Fife to support people to access their rights so they can have a better quality of life and to reduce socio-economic and health inequalities.
The project officer will work with the carers affected by sensory impairment within this project which is part of our Connect2Support Programme. Overall ensuring the carers affected by sensory impairment, who are amongst the most disadvantaged in society, are provided with specialist support which enables them & those they care for to access their rights and navigate the systems, services and support that can improve their lives.
This project may be ideal for an early career candidate or someone seeking to move to a new field as the project is well support by the existing project team.

We are currently looking to recruit support workers to join our small team within Inclusion Alliance. The role involves supporting people with learning disabilities to be included in the community and lead an ordinary life. Your work would involve helping people to access educational, social, leisure and work or volunteering opportunities in the community.
No experience or formal qualifications are necessary for the role although a caring nature, positive attitude and a sense of fun are important characteristics to have. New staff will receive paid training and undertake shadow shifts with experienced staff members during induction. We want new staff to feel ready and able to work prior to working on their own for the first time.
We have various vacancies available including part time and relief/casual positions in various locations throughout Edinburgh.
Working hours are based between the hours of 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
