The Church and Community Engagement Worker will support and develop engagement initiatives in the parishes, assessing the needs of the community, and building meaningful relationships between the Church, its activities, and the local community.

The successful candidate will be a committed Christian with an active Church connection (Genuine Occupational Requirement in terms of the Equality Act 2010).

We are looking for a Mentor Services and Recruitment Coordinator to support and recruit volunteer mentors across the Highlands and as we look to expand into Moray and further afield.

About the role

As our Mentor Services and Recruitment Coordinator, you will be the primary point of contact for our volunteers from day one. You’ll guide prospective mentors through the process – conducting interviews, organising training and coordinating PVG checks – ensuring they feel supported every step of the way. Additionally, you’ll collaborate on planning and running campaigns to attract new mentors.

Key responsibilities:

• Providing excellent customer service to prospective and existing mentors using strong communication skills on the telephone, in virtual meetings, by email and sometimes in person
• Ensure all of our volunteer mentors are individually supported and fully engaged at every stage of their mentor journey
• Deliver information sessions, participate in mentor one-to-one conversations and facilitate mentor training sessions and other mentor engagement activities.

About you

• Customer service experience
• Based in Moray or the Highlands
• Experience of or strong interest in working or volunteering in the charity or third sectors
• An understanding of young people and educational settings
• People person with excellent communication and listening skills and empathy
• Experience of assisting with volunteer recruitment campaigns
• Well organised with great administrative skills and attention to detail
• Excellent desktop and database skills

Scottish Mentoring Network is looking for an organised, proactive and people-focused Engagement and Membership Development Lead to help grow and support our national membership of mentoring projects across Scotland.

This varied part-time role will lead on member engagement, communications, online events and our annual members’ event, while also supporting key administrative and finance processes. You will help strengthen relationships with members, promote the value of SMN’s services and ensure our back-office systems run smoothly.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication and organisational skills, confidence working with a range of stakeholders, good digital skills and the ability to work independently as part of a small remote team. Experience of membership organisations, event management, digital marketing or the Scottish third sector would be an advantage.

The post is 28 hours per week, with flexible remote working, some in-person meetings, 23 days annual leave, 11 floating public holidays, a 6% employer pension contribution and a gross salary of £26,435 per annum.

We’re looking for a friendly, motivated person to join our team! You’ll be based in Edinburgh, focusing on recruiting local volunteers to become mentors. You’ll do this by engaging with the local community and building great working relationships with local businesses, public services and other organisations.

You’ll work closely with our Partnerships Manager and local teams to engage with local organisations and people to promote the MCR Pathways programme. Your main goal is to find committed volunteers who will mentor a young person at a local school. This means meeting with them for just one hour a week during term time for at least one year.

Key Responsibilities

• Find and recruit new volunteer mentors by connecting with people and groups in local communities
• Attend events (in person and online) to present to and engage with potential volunteers,
• Clearly explain the charity’s work and the great difference it makes for both young people and mentors. You’ll build positive relationships with potential mentors through meetings and presentations.
• Work with the wider MCR Team, schools and partners to make sure our mentor recruitment efforts are right for each local area.
• Help promote MCR Pathways recruitment campaigns across your local area.
• Keep accurate records of all your activities in our system to track our progress.

About You

• You’re great at building positive relationships with both organisations and individual people.
• You are confident in giving engaging presentations about our work to different groups and individuals.
• You can work well on your own and as a vital part of a team.
• You strongly believe in the potential of young people and act as a positive, committed role model.
• You have good knowledge of the local area, including community groups, employers and local organisations.
• It would be helpful if you have some experience in mentoring, volunteering or working in the charity sector. Most importantly, you should be a “people person”, open-minded and happy talking to large groups as well as having one-to-one chats.
