Role
The honorary treasurer is a key volunteer role within our governance structure which aims to make a real difference to members in Scotland. As our honorary treasurer you will work closely with the chair of the business management and finance committee to advise the trustee board on all aspects of business management and finance matters related to the work of Girlguiding Scotland.
Your profile
This role is open to current and non-members of Girlguiding.

The key skills and attributes that we’re looking for are:
- CA, CIMA, ACCA, ACA or other similar qualification
- Membership of Girlguiding, or willingness to become a member
- Experience of preparing budgets and forecasting, management accounting and statutory financial reporting
- Experience of reporting to board level, audit and knowledge of charity SORP (FRS102)
- Experience of setting and monitoring investment strategies and supervising the performance of a significant investment portfolio
- Experience of working with volunteers would be an advantage
- Ability to work and join meetings remotely using a variety of technology and the ability to access papers and information online (instructions and support will be given)
- Ability to think of the bigger picture for the benefit of members and potential members across Scotland
- Confident to speak up and the ability to challenge others in a constructive manner
- Capacity to be proactive in research and in reviewing papers
- Eligibility to become a trustee in Scotland (you can find information about who cannot be a charity trustee on oscr.org.uk)
- Approachable, open minded and flexible, with the ability to work with others
- Excited to be part of shaping the future and responding to challenges
- Capacity to be proactive and involved in building relationships with key volunteers and staff to facilitate the work between meetings

Finance Manager

Purpose:Responsibility for the financial function, and providing financial management support to the Chief Executive, Treasurer and Finance Committee. This is a varied and hands-on role where you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, including monthly reconciliation and producing regular management accounts. The role will also be responsible for monitoring cashflow and producing financial reports relating to project funding.
The Finance Manager will work alongside the Chief Executive in creating the financial strategy and annual budgets. The role will also be the day to day contact for the Auditors, Payroll providers, Bank Managers etc.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Accounting
- Support the Chief Executive with preparing the annual budget and Five-Year financial strategy
- Produce monthly management accounts to track income and expenditure against the budget
- Produce regular financial reports for designated and restricted funds, including for project funding
- Monitor cash-flow and financial sustainability of the charity
- Preparation of Annual Accounts and facilitation of independent Annual Audit
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain accurate records of payment receipts and issue invoices
- Initiate all online payments
- Process Gift Aid submissions for donations
- Complete quarterly partial exemption VAT return
- Liaise with the Investment Manager in respect to day to day management of the investment portfolio
- Manage the administration of legacies received
Payroll & HR
- Liaise with Payroll provider on a monthly basis, including checking and approving salary payments
- Maintain staff salary records
- Liaise with the pension provider to ensure contribution schedules are correct and timely
BB Supplies
- Oversee the relationship with the fulfilment service provider
- Maintain records of sales / stock and other financial information
- Provide statements and other financial information
Governance
- Assist the Chief Executive by compiling returns and updating records for the Charity Commission and other Regulatory Bodies
- Service the Finance Committee by producing necessary papers and taking the minutes
- Maintain and review financial polices and procedures
Person Specification
Essential
- Accounting qualification or equivalent professional experience
- Significant experience in bookkeeping, and the management of restricted funds
- Knowledge of statutory requirements of financial management in relation to SORP
- Experience in budget planning and financial reporting
- Advanced IT skills, including use of Microsoft Excel
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
- Experience of working with a range of stakeholders (staff, volunteers, trustees, suppliers, partners)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to the Vision, Mission, and Values of The Boys’ Brigade
Desirable
- Knowledge of the Charity Sector and financial reporting requirements
- Qualified Chartered Accountant
- Experience of the Uniformed Youth Sector

Intercultural Youth Scotland (IYS), a leading voice for Black and People of Colour (BPoC) young people in Scotland, is looking for a passionate and experienced Mental Health Service Manager to lead our intercultural counselling and mental health support programme for BPoC youth aged 12–29.
Our Mental Health Service offers free, specialist intercultural counselling and mental health support for young PoC and minority ethnic groups in Scotland, aged 12-29.
Within this role, you’ll oversee service delivery, manage a small team of service providers, build relationships with schools and stakeholders, and ensure the programme continues to deliver measurable impact.
This is an exciting opportunity to take forward a recently restructured service and shape it to become a leading provider of intercultural mental health support for young people in Scotland.

- We’re looking for someone with a strong track record in mental health services and a deep understanding of the needs of young people of colour in Scotland. You should be able to demonstrate:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in mental health service delivery, management, or programme management
- Strong project and people management skills
- Strategic thinking and a growth mindset
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- A strong understanding of youth mental health support systems in Scotland and the UK
- Experience in monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and budget management
- Commitment to anti-racism, inclusion, and youth empowerment
A clinical qualification (BACP/UKCP), and experience scaling health or wellbeing services would be advantageous but not required.
