Hadeel, the shop, is owned by the charity Palcrafts UK, whose main aim is to relieve poverty in Palestine (primarily
in the West Bank and Gaza), by providing a sustainable source of income for Palestinians working in fair trade
organisations and social enterprises. Hadeel enables Palestinian fair trade and business development through our
shop in Edinburgh, our website, other outlets, local representatives and events. We provide around 20
Palestinian producer groups with access to international customers. These groups include women's
co-operatives, a school for deaf children, small family workshops and a few larger enterprises. From time to
time, we make grants to these groups to support their sustainability and development. We also seek to raise
awareness and support for Palestinian people disadvantaged by socio-economic and political systems, e.g.: by
hosting Palestinian speakers, maintaining a small resource centre and organising occasional visits to the
producer groups.
We have been based in Edinburgh for 20 years and have extensive sales networks across the UK and beyond. We have a
team of dedicated staff and volunteers working in the shop and staffing stalls at external events.
Hadeel is governed by a Council which meets regularly to plan and oversee development of the charity, Palcrafts
UK.
