Role
Colinton Parish Church (soon to be united with Juniper Green Parish Church) is looking for a Church Officer to look after our buildings. The larger part of the Church Officer’s role will be associated with Colinton Parish Church building and associated rooms, but the role will also involve Juniper Green Parish Church and the Dreghorn Loan Hall owned by Colinton Parish Church.
Colinton and Juniper Green are suburban parishes in the South-West of Edinburgh. The two parishes will be uniting later in 2024. Colinton Parish Church is located in a scenic position in Colinton Dell near the Water of Leith, the Dreghorn Loan Hall is located half a mile to the south, and Juniper Green Parish Church is located on Lanark Road a short distance to the west of the City Bypass. Colinton Parish Church runs the Swing Café in rooms adjacent to Colinton Parish Church on 5 days per week.
The activities of the Church Officer will include opening and closing the buildings, cleaning, tidying and minor repairs.
This is envisaged as a permanent post starting from a mutually agreed starting date in Summer or Autumn 2024 with a 35 hour working week. The salary will be £24570 per annum with an annual review. The exact weekly working pattern is negotiable but needs to fit in with Church activities(e.g. must include Sunday mornings). Options can be discussed at the interview for the post.
Applicants wishing to offer to carry out the role as a job share, or to offer to work less hours(for a pro-rata salary) and cover only parts of the role(on the assumption that the role will be converted into two part-time roles), will also be considered, and options can be discussed at interview.
